Everyone needs to remember these are German cars. They get plenty of snow there!
Slap some winter tires on that thing and go! |

I wouldn't worry about the salt. It's an M car, it's got all aluminum suspension components which are resistant to corrosion unlike steel. Rusting steel will continue to corrode deep into the metal, aluminum however only develops surface corrosion (that white chalky look on aluminum) which once formed acts as barrier to protect the rest of the aluminum. Think of it as self protecting metal.

641m winter wheel set, problem solved
Congrats on the car, you will love it, more when it's finally broken in, until 500 miles it'll feel a little clunky but soon after way smoother like all the pieces are working together (truly smoother when it's broken in a bit) or I just forgot to drive manual and it took me 500 miles to get the hang of it again?!? The M2 is going directly into the garage. I have a truck for winter since we get 10-12' each year. |

I just gave my M2C a thorough wash and did a reload of the ceramic coating yesterday since it was a balmy 65F here. Today temp dropped down to 30F and we got snow. No way I am taking the clean car back out until the roads are dry -- I just couldn't bear to see it get dirty right away.
I hope they didn't salt the roads (snow wasn't really sticking that I could see). They use brine spray here and it sticks around as a powdery dust for many days afterwards. |

Either waterless wash in the garage, or go up to a heated bay. Either way, if you've properly prepped your car, none of the salt, sand, etc is going to cause problems. I recommend a nice thick coat of wax in the winter. It'll hold up better than ceramic coating when it comes to surface contamination and abrasion from salt. It's also much easier to apply once it starts getting cold. |
