Permanently Enable Cold Start Noise

LOVE the sound of my M2C when it does a cold start. Loud. Deep and Burbul-y.

It dies down after approx 1 min to a "normal" car idling sound (which is crap) and also sounds like this on startup if the engine is already warm.

Is there a way to code it to:
  • a) Always start up with "Cold Start Sound", regardless of engine temperature.
  • b) Constantly idle with the "Cold Start Sound", whenever the engine is running.

It doesn’t have anything to do with coding.
It’s the tune where it dumps extra fuel on cold startups to warm up the cats faster.

Is there anyway it can be retuned to always do that?

I think you can probably tune for that with someone who is custom tuning your car. But it's super wasteful and will probably decrease your performance by a lot. There doesn't seem to be a point in doing it except for sound. You can probably save more money by getting a different exhaust or midpipe.

Sounds like a good way to prematurely burn out your cats and waste a lot of gas. If you want more noise get a set of downpipes.

I get the OP’s point though. Cold start sounds like an exotic car idling.

Huh.

I'll always remember leaving work a couple of years ago around 7 PM and hearing someone fire up a jackhammer or some other piece of equipment in the construction site across the street from the parking garage i was in.

"who the fuck is doing construction this late at night?!" I thought to myself. Then I saw a dude backing his M4 out of his parking spot.

I couldn't believe how shitty it sounded. Jokes on me though, now I own a car that sounds exactly the same amount of shitty when cold.

Honestly though, to each their own. I like how the VQ35 sounds for instance. For many people, that thing is just nails on chalkboard bad. We can't all like the same things and the world is a better place for that fact.

Was his car modded, or had an aftermarket exhaust?
I start my car up in my garage with the door closed, but it doesn’t sound anything like you described.
It’s slightly on the louder side, but compared to my old Camaro SS, this sounds civilized with much less rumble.

I agree with the VQ35 sound. That sounded good and so did my old VR6 on the R32.
