Sadly most motion photography is fake, created using PhotoShop motion blur filters or professional level Virtual Rig software: https://www.virtualrig-studio.com/#gallery

Real motion photography is being shot less and less as there are so many variables to manage in a manual, real world shoot. Most photographers would rather sit in comfort of their studio and alter a photo of a car parked on the road....

BMW should have debuted the M2CS with images of one with the CCB option.

The sound is a bummer compared to the N55 but that's about it from my point of view

I think even a price tag of 80k ish would be justifiable seeing as the Audi RS3 is just short of 70k and this thing would drag an RS3 on the track no doubt. Just my 2 cents

A new GT4 seems like the obvious choice, but most people here are talking out of their ass and haven't driven one, let alone live with one. People take for granted that the M2 CS will have room for four people, that it provides the taller than average driver (like myself) to be comfortable, and the seats in the back go down for additional storage. These little things make a world of difference when you're thinking of driving the car every day, and it's not just your bedroom poster or your phone's wallpaper. After considering every day practically, one can easily make the argument that the M2 CS is the one to buy. Now a 911 is a different ball game because there is natural everyday usability to it. Maybe not as much as the M2 CS, but it is more practical than the GT4. If I were in the market for buying a new car around $100k mark right now, I would most likely spec out a base 992 Carrera instead of the M2 CS route. Even tho I would have to be very careful with my option list, to keep it hovering around $110k or so but then it is indeed more expensive, and depending on who you ask, it might be out of budget.
€95K base price for Germany. BMW has officially announced the price a few hours ago (source: here).

Add only M-DCT and a metallic body color (BSM, HS or MB) and you're looking at €100K for this über 2 Series car.

If you buy this über 2 Series in Germany:
  • €95K (6MT + AW) = ± $105,230
  • €100K (M-DCT + BSM/HS/MB) = ± $110,770
  • €108K (M-DCT + BSM/HS/MB + M-CCB) = ± $119,625
Compare with the base price for a 718 Cayman GT4 and a 718 Spyder in Germany (taxes included) (see here and here):

So, yeah, that's the sobering scenario of the price guesstimate poll discussed in this thread.

My ± 150% guesstimate was accurate, unfortunately.

  • ± 60% extra compared to the original M2 (2016 list price) = ± €95K;
  • ± 45% extra compared to the M2 Competition (2019 list price) = ± €95K.
Rough conversion math for the US (proportional change: % instead of currency conversion):
  • ± $53K (original M2 2016 US list price) + ± 60% = ± $85K;
  • ± $59K (M2 Competition 2019 US list price) + ± 45% = ± $85K.
Conclusion 1: M2 CS base price guesstimate of ± $85K for the US and ± €95K for Germany (VAT included).
On the other hand, this immodest M2 CS price tag makes the original M2, M2 LCI and M2 Competition look like a bargain. Especially taking into account the finding that - at least over here - several 0 km (or very low mileage) full option (or very loaded) M2 Competition cars sitting in BMW M dealer showrooms are currently on offer for M2C base price or near M2C base price (discounts ranging from 10% up to 20%).

Furthermore, with signs of another significant economic crisis expected for Spring/Summer 2020, timing is unfortunate.

The S55 sounds it’s best when warm - and worst when cold. This is how my F80 sounds too.

One thing to keep in mind..M2CS basically has the Exec pkg included as opposed to a $1,500 option on any M2C. So for any comparison, it doesn’t make sense to show M2C base price under $60K. It’s not, as nobody in their right mind buys without the Exec pkg.

I'm sorry... I still can't believe the love for this car. Are people on this thread for real?

I get we are a BMW forum. I get that.

But 100k for a riced up M2C?

There is literally nothing impressive about this car - at least nothing NEW that's impressive.

The hood looks average. There are better aftermarket hoods out there.

The wheels are OK. Soooo many better aftermarket wheels on everyone's M2's on this very forum.

The red brake calipers look ridiculous.

The misano blue looks girly.

The front lip is nothing special whatsoever.

It's a tuned S55. Wow. Loads of dudes making way more power on here.

It's an S55. So it sounds like crap.

It's got lots of alcantara. Wow, how innovative.

It's rear spoiler looks shit. Just doesn't work.

Literally the ONE interesting detail on this car is the new carbon roof. That's cool.

But again. 100K FOR A SOUPED UP M2C.

I have felt for months this would be a letdown and it sure enough is.

An M2 CSL... now THAT would be worth salivating over. Something legit track focused. Not this.

The reality is nothing will ever wow us like the OG. It is and will remain, the revered M2 in decades to come. Pure, classy and sonorous... N55 and all.

Not this bedazzled end-of-life last ditch attempt at money grabbing by BMW.

Anyone who buys this is an imbecile. The CS to buy is the M3.

At least they offered a manual. That's the only credit I'll give BMW here.

At first I thought this could be a legitimate 911 fighter, maybe it could match it on the 'ring at half the price. Doesn't have the looks or the cachet but at least it will cost a lot less.

Then I saw the price. This will sit in showrooms like M3 CS's I've seen in Bay Area dealerships.

So much butthurt all over and misquoting the pricing. Won’t be $100K, lol...
Every butthurt person seems like current owner bias too.

On the one hand we'll be lucky if the weight drop gets even close to 100lbs. My crystal ball says around 75lbs, maybe less.

On the other hand, it's not just cosmetics: I'm reasonably certain that the vented hood is functional, as are the front lip and rear Spoiler. Do they produce downforce? Probably not, just eliminate the lift is my guess. And it's nice to have a tune with factory warranty.

$85k-$90k is a lot of money to pay for the M2CS though, in a world where the 718 GT4 is $100k. Pricing is key, and if these will be sitting on dealer lots this time next year, I might pick one up for a nice $10-15k discount...

Does anyone know if Euro Delivery will be available for these?

Am I the only seeing the EU curb weight listed 1625kg(manual) and 1650kg(dct)? That is the same EU curb weights for the M2 Comp reveal. WTF? Typo?

Agreed, it's laughably terrible. My current car sounds amazing. It won't deter me, but I was so eager to hear it, then it started up and sounded like a push mower.

The official video sounds better, might be the mic being used, but yes it does sound like crap in this video, could also be because it's comfort mode and already warmed up, and they weren't revving all the way.
