Finally, a great BMW and it's going to be neutered by a single year production run and a limited quantity run. Forget the exorbitant price that's going to be associated to this car.
I honestly don't even know why I even care what BMW is doing any longer. I'm not paying $90k+ for an M2, no matter what it is.

Another thing, why didn't BMW use the M performance rear deck lid? The stock M2 back end is a little plain, and I think that the rear deck lid with the exposed CF looks great. That would have been a great addition to visually separate the CS from the OG M2 and M2C.

Good work BMW!!!!
Manual optional, CF roof, CF hood! Wonderful! Looking forward to all the whiners split among the different crowds: -The badge snobs. "For $X I would only consider a Porsche" -The purists. "It should weigh 1000 pounds, not 3500!" -The "I can tune a regular M2c to be more powerful than the M2 CS" crowd -The color challenged, complaining about the shade of blue, the color of the brakes, the fly resting on a plant in their office... |

It is already 2 seconds faster in the Hockenheim track. I can only imagine in the green hell what the times will be. Factor in all OEM, the price will only increase over time if the rumor is true about 500 units to the US. This will be a future classic and super rare. |

We wont know until it is officially announced. That being said, it is a huge upgrade over the competition considering it will weight at least 100 lbs less with this much more power than the competition trim. |

The special M2CS...at what price.
I think the late cycle "special" M cars have always been about incremental parts. Doesn't make them bad, just predictable. Nothing to rock the boat requiring new safety testing which inevitably erodes ROI. That's been BMWs MO for a long time.
BMW has been rightly criticized for not creating a halo car, but the closest we got was a the GTS which was literally oversupplied relative to its price. (Just go look at what they are selling for now). The market is not there for BMW to sell a stripped out OE track car at a profitable level. And the "new stripped-out" is still way north of 3300 pounds. Sure they could sell a loss leader, but I doubt a BoD would allow that. BMW USA is even further out on that watered-down spectrum (No E92M3GTS, no E46M3 CSL, no M3 motor in E36M3). My guess is that they'll price this thing at a discount to the sum of its performance parts (some of which we don't even know the price of yet). ..Which will make it incrementally more expensive than a M3C. I'm betting they won't price it at the huge premium ala the M3CS or M4GTS because the initial and resale of those models has got to be a sore spot. Especially now, with Autos in a downcycle, they'll try to minimize the risk of these sitting on lots with a decent price. Sure the first batch of these might capture some ADM as the "most collectable version of the current M2", but that enthusiasm will likely fizzle at a price approaching 100k if they are going to bring 300+ cars into the US at that price (again reference the GTS experience). The 1M remains a shining star because it was a parts bin special for $47k. It wouldn't have that glimmer if it was $90k in 2011$. So how "inexpensive" will the M2CS be? |

Also on further inspection, the front lip is not the same as the M Performance one. It sticks out forward from the body quite a bit more.

I'm having a real hard time choosing a color, too limited (cannot configure mine yet but thinking about it). Does anyone know if individual colors will be available. I've seen some M4cs in individual colors, but I am not sure this will be available for de M2cs

My guess has been $85K with DCT (but without the carbon ceramics) for a while now. That's quite a lot - I am hoping it comes in lower than that...will be interesting to see.

Not sure what took them so long to "engineer" this car when they already had all these pieces in place. They already had put the F8x power train in M2C. Now they are just putting the F8x comp spec engine in the car. Such a huge leap.
The one thing I actually am interested in is the "dynamic" cruise control. Is that adaptive with auto adjustments for traffic, etc? I remember BMW saying they couldn't offer that type system on F8x due to need for cooling to engine and the sensor would block too much radiator. |

The price is $100,000. Whatever MSRP is, you can add in the requisite dealer markup to get to $100,000.

Love it! If I were one to have the luxury of a 100k burning a hole in my pocket and was a serious "track-day" on the weekends guy (wish I had the time), would totally get one! Kinda the last of it's kinda type a car. A purpose built car. Yeah, it's dinky and this and that, but the M2's were built for one thing. Not trying to mask other purposes in to "increase versatility". Collectors and such have probably already snapped them all up. Your typical club racer just doesn't have that kinda cash laying around and can make an equally capable car for a lot less. Heck, get a used low miles M2C (~50k) and make some upgrades (10-20k) and there ya go. The "regular" M2C is already a very capable car. I think most of what I am seeing at least is cosmetic anyway... Just paying for exclusivities... Not sure why that is such a big thing these days...

BMW's CS line is shaping up to be analogous to Porsche's GTS cars. The best, most sporty bits from the regular versions, some alcantara, and an aero kit. It hits the sweet spot for me: 6MT and adaptive suspension in the smallest package with everything that BMW has learned through the development of the F generation M cars.
Just like the M3/4CS, I think it will be a special car to those that get to drive one but under appreciated and criticized by most others. I do think this car offers something more unique than the M3/4, given that it's available with a 6MT, it's the first time adaptive suspension is available in an M2, and the power increase over the base car is larger. Assuming it comes in less than $80k (can we hope for $74999?), I don't think it'll sit on dealers lots like the M3/4 did. As an F80 owner, this is a far more compelling upgrade than the F80CS was. Anyway, I'm first on my dealers list. I'm just waiting to see if the rumors are true about the flat 6 returning to the Cayman GTS to make the final decision.
