They do and that is great , it is a personal opinion ofcourse.

I drove a V10 M5 with the SMG and hated the GB! Wish it had the manual and it would have been heaven. Was a touring 2!

Baege,

If you're in Toronto with city driving then I'd suggest to keep the DCT. My perspective comes from my '18 M3 MT6 being hard to drive in stop and go traffic. My only other complaint is the S55 does have lag below 2K RPM, and the MT6 makes you drive in a higher band than most drivers expect for low speeds. This is the first car that required a shift down to 1st for some low speed corners.

Even though the MT6 makes daily highway driving feel like track day (it feels sooooo good), I do miss the daily-drivability of an automatic. I have to admit I'd pick the DCT for the M2 if given the choice.

I considered a Mustang, GT350, Camaro 2SS 1LE, Porsche Cayman and finally the 911.

A manual trans was a requirement as well as having a back seat. I ruled out the pony cars because they're too common and I couldn't find one with the options I wanted, but I would have jumped on a black Camaro if it was available. I gave the 4 cylinder Cayman a shot, it was cool and sounded like a VW bug, but didn't have a back seat and hard to find in manual, but the PDK was pretty cool. The 911 could have fit the bill, but they're way too expensive. Just a couple of options balloon the price up, so I'd have to go used, but that was also too much. Impossible to find with a manual as well in my area.

In the end, the M2 fit what I needed. A tiny little car with a big motor, back seat and manual trans. I wish it had vented seats, adaptive cruise and a HUD though, but I love that it's a drivers car and I find that I rarely use cruise anyways.

Just traded my 18' M3 CP for M2C and I was in the same boat. Needed manual and not too many options left with the world changing and buyer habits moving away from MT.

M3 was amazing (also had 17' non CP) but was a big car and liked the smaller M2C.

Coming from a Camaro, the M2C feels tiny to me.
How was the M3 ZCP? I would think it’s not that much different in feel.
I somewhat regret not getting the ‘18 YMB earlier this year when great deals could be had.

With 2 kids under 10, the M3 was fantastic and MT was excellent however the bang for the buck on the M2 made it more attractive for me and I can still have my kids in the backseat for school pickups.

I would rather have an M2 and Jeep Wrangler for the same price as a 911 even if the majority of owners seem to "graduate" towards the 911.

The M2's shorter wheelbase really helps improve the handling from the F8X

Really the only other cars I thought of were the VW Golf R or a used F80 M3. The Golf R which is obviously 1 or 2 price classes lower, still felt quite fun to drive. The F80 M3 being end of life, and used prices for 2017/2018 not being attractive enough, as well the release of the M2 Competition made the M2C the absolute only choice. After having had American muscle cars before, I would never get a GT350 even though the engine sound can't be beat.

Realistically, no. I did try other cars including the GT350. I really liked the GT350 for the motor but didn't like the size nor did it feel as nimble to me. The motor along with the transmission felt great.

Other cars I considered was the RS3 and Cayman. The RS3 would be a great car if the steering wheel faced the other direction. The car just felt fundamentally backwards (big tires in the front, engine facing wrong way, etc). Also lack of manual also put it in a bad position. Cayman was a fantastic car, but at the end of the day didn't really care for the 4 banger. The other issue was lack of value, it was a great car but felt that the BMW offered more, which is how it won the day.

I was a heartbeat away from pulling the trigger on a 2019 Cayman GTS because I didn't get an allocation for an M2C at launch. My buddy, who runs the service shop at a dealership, ended up finding me one across the country that was a preorder somebody walked away from. It just so happened to be the exact build out I wanted (6MT, White, Orange Stitching) so I saved myself $25k after having the thing shipped across the country and couldn't be happier.

So I test drove an M2C manual and didn't walk away saying I must have this car!

I think part of the issue was the manual. So 2 questions, how much does this mod run approximately? And are there warranty implications?

Lotus Evora GT manual. Simply wanted a rear wheel drive manual car to throw around. Didn't care about back seats but both cars happened to have them.

THE UCP was $299, the AS SSK was $449. 2 hrs of labor to do the SSK and the UCP can be done in 1 hr. No warranty concerns and my BMW shop did the work. Its a game changer

Great car, you're gonna love it, they're incredibly fun to drive, definitely a class benchmark!

yeah I love how they drive. I'm just losing my ass on the M2 so I'm not just dumping it. I'll wait a month or two then if nothing.... just drop the price and get what I want.

I considered a ZL1, but the manual cars suffer from a bog that occurs when pulling away from a stop (supposedly from an over sensitive torque management system). No permanent fix as of yet, other than a tune. Then there's the poor outward visibility. These issues swayed me toward the M2C. No regrets...while the M2C isn't as quick as the ZL1, it's quick enough to be fun, and I prefer its smaller dimensions and lighter weight. I would've enjoyed the ZL1's blower whine, though.

having owned a C7, I think you made the right call on those aspects of the M2C which swayed you there. Compactness and visbility actually have a significant impact on smiles per miles which I came to learn in my brief courting of the C7
