Is it OK to Attach Rear Spoiler to PPF with 3M Tape?

I have PPF on my trunk already and some of the 3M tape on the spoiler attaches to the PPF rather than the actual paint. Is this ok? It won't fly off right? My PPF installer said it would be ok, just wanted to confirm if anyone else has done this or not.

It's fine.

personally I would remove the PPF and have it redone so that the spoiler is attached directly to the trunk

It should be ok since 3M VHB tape can hold a crazy amount of weight for a small surface area so you should be ok.

The spoiler attachment will only be as strong as the PPF. I'd remove the PPF under the spoiler

The PPF is as strong as the 3M tape and has a lot more surface area. The wind isn't gonna blow it off.

He also said only some of the spoiler is contacting the ppf, so I'm assuming some also touches the clear coat as well which should be more than enough.

It won't blow off but someone could easily pull the spoiler off and walk away with it if most of the spoiler adhesive is in contact with PPF. My entire car is wrapped but I could easily pull off the PPF on some panels. Suntek Ultra especially is easy to remove which is a good thing if you are worried about paint being lifted off when you re-wrap.

Yup half of it is in contact with clear coat and the other half PPF. It is the RKP rear spoiler so the top portion is on clear coat and the lower portion is with PPF.
