Bmw really stepped up, got the Car fixed and probably close to 10k in free parts plus a 5-6k+ warranty. I would have just refunded your money for the car,
They took a big loss to make things right.

Happy to have helped you feel at least slightly better about the whole situation!

Any idea where your car is now? I would guessed it might have been put on the same ship mine was on (RCC Europe) from Bremerhaven to Baltimore, which looks like it arrived in BAL ~2 days ago and left there today for the next port.

Hopefully they spend minimal time at customs/VDC and will be on their way to the Midwest!

Mine was on Asian Majesty which just hit NY/NJ yesterday morning. I had to watch the ship move from Bremerhaven to Gothenberg to Zeebrugge to Southampton to Halifax to New Jersey.

Just found out my car is headed to Baltimore VDC. It went through customs and VPC in New Jersey last week. I'm not sure why it's going through Baltimore as well? I was told no damage during shipping.

Anyone have a clue as to what might be going on?

Likely a distribution center. Some dealers are not on the routes from the port of entry VPC, so it gets shipped to another one before going on a truck that services a route to your dealer.

I would agree with the post above that it's probably due to the routes to the dealer being out of Baltimore.

Mine is also at the Baltimore VDC, as they are waiting an "exterior piece of trim" to replace from minor shipping damage

Maybe we'll be in the same truck, stopping in Chicago on the way to St. Louis!

I almost cried (conflicting emotions of relief, happiness, and sadness over a journey we didn't complete all kinda hit at once) when I drove around the back corner of the dealership this afternoon. They are going to clean it up tomorrow morning and I'll stop by in the afternoon to inspect and hopefully bring her home.

Wonderful news that this saga is almost over.

What was the final verdict on cause?

You are in the Chicago area, all of our cars go through Baltimore. It went via Jersey->Baltimore because they got you a ship leaving from Germany sooner.

Took the kids tent camping Friday at Indiana Dunes so had my hands full until Saturday evening when I finally picked her up. Car was on a lift when I arrived and visual inspection went very well. No signs of any fluids/residue in engine bay or on underside. It barely looked touched (saw some small marks on bolts for strut brace, etc). Certified testing tag on a/c lines for pressure and temp testing after that system was closed back up.

Both euro license plates, the warning triangle, first aid kit, safety vests, and toll tags on the windshield were all in place as I had requested. I left the car in Prague with 557 miles, it was dropped off at Loginout in Munich with 622 miles and delivered to me with 635 miles.

I feel compelled to praise my local dealer, BMW specialty sales (euro delivery), and BMW customer experience executive for working with me to bring a satisfactory resolution to this issue. Will O'Hara, Joe DiGiovanni, and Dan Bustamante at Zeigler BMW in Orland Park, IL all worked to make sure this came together. Please give them a call if you are in the market. I will keep the BMWNA employee names private for now as they have not given me explicit permission to disclose.

Here she is at home and with the goodwill parts (excluding the cf trim bits in the big box which I purchased from Zeigler BMW Orland Park, IL). The parts guys are thrilled I'm finally buying stuff for a current car as opposed to the E34.

I'm bugging BMWNA to give me the final diagnosis which will likely be my last meaningful post to this thread.....otherwise thanks all for the words of encouragement, the sympathy from many, and the empathy of some unfortunate others. I'll see you all in other threads.

Great news, glad to see you finally have her back in your garage, and those parts look awesome! Seems like a solid resolution, all things considered.

Enjoy it OP!

Congrats on getting her home! Super jealous of that stack of parts AND lift. Be sure to post some follow up pics with all of the parts on. Nothing like a happy ending...

So does your Cannondale (I assume) have only 1 fork or what's going on there?

Nice E34, don't ever sell it - I made that mistake.

Glad BMW hooked you up with some goodies as consolation.

Nice. I too have bought my m2c from Ziegler BMW. Dealing cross country is a bit taxing and I'm still working some things out but they are one of the better dealers from my experiences. They try to make things right.

Interesting how you got that car cover. The sales guy said they only have the futurist car cover and its not sale-able in the states.
