Thoughts on the Manual Supra and GR Corrolla?

It would've been a hard decision to make had the Supra been available in manual when I purchased my M.

The GR Corrolla looks awesome. If I didn't have my Honda Fit/M2 I would probably look into getting it.

I cant do a two seater and the supra is a little too over styled for me. If I wanted a two seater my money would be spent on a C7 corvette. Love the corolla, however could not justify $45k for that kind of car.

In 2007 I had a modded B5 S4 and was considering an STI limited. I liked the car, it was brand new. It was expensive because of its exclusivity, however driving it still felt like an economy car with leather seats. I suspect the Toyota would feel similar.

This is just my opinion and I am very sure it will not be the opinion of exeryone.

While I was still shopping, the Supra was the only automatic car I still considered. Ultimately I'm glad I pulled the trigger on the M2C instead. Would I still consider a Supra now that it will come with a manual? No because I've been smitten by the S55. If the M2C did not exist, I would have a manual Supra in its place.

Manual Supra, absolutely.

Corolla, really? You're buying numbers there, not a car. I guess if that's your thing.

I like my Honda Fit bc it's small, holds a lot of stuff, manual and a hoot to drive (although slow).

I imagine the corrolla (minus the length it's longer than M2C) would be fun car to drive.

Now I'm not comparing the corrolla to the M2c so please don't get at me lol.

I need a backseat so the Supra was never an option. But a manual is huge thing for this car now. If I did not need a backseat, the manual Supra would be at the top of my list under 70k other than the M2c.

I am a big fan of the new GR Corolla. It would be an awesome daily driver and fun to play with. I wish they would have brought more hot hatches to the US and depreciation will be almost nothing, especially if you get a circuit edition. the big issue is ADM.

I just can't get past how ugly the thing is. Reminds me of that JukeR abomination. But I'm a slave to my aesthetics.

But yes, I agree, smaller, and lighter usually equals more fun, it's what made many of the most beloved cars win our hearts.

Yeah it's almost guaranteed to see ADM like the type R (which was so crazy).

Feel so lucky to have got my M2C right before the madness…1500 off + able to use my sisters 1000 new grad discount lol.

You know what, how come the Supra gets nice pedal covers and we have to pay extra for them?

I went from a m240i to an M2 comp
s55 over b58 any day
the s55 has a much more motorsports feel to it and more character
so I would say M2C over supra any day

I had been planning on getting an M2 for years and then the market went crazy so I held off. Now you can get a low mileage 2018 M2 for around $50k or you can buy a new Supra 3.0 premium for mid 50's.

Ultimately it just depends on what you want. The M2/M2C have more space but are a good bit heavier. The supra has very little space, but it's faster in a straight line and on track than both of them. If you need the convenience, go M2. If you want a 2 seater sports car, go Supra.

I ended up placing a deposit on a 2023 supra when they announced the manual a few weeks ago, but I would be perfectly happy with any of the 3.

I'm thinking about swapping my Golf R for a manual Supra - IF I can get one at MSRP (should be possible as long as I'm not going for the limited A91 trim). What a combo it would make with my M2c. Practical car? Yeah we have one when needed, the wife's car.

Girlfriend bought the M2C, I have a deposit on a manual Supra.

So... both!

M2C for street duty. More practical, more space, more visibility, more comfortable... The Supra will see some autocross and track time. MSRP is possible if you find the right dealer. The dealer that has my deposit has "will be sold at MSRP" on the signed deposit form.

Oh damn that's awesome!

It's so crazy how the car market is now, especially the Supra coming in manual. Before I got my M2C, I had a few chances to get the Supra at 5-6k off MSRP lol.

I’d originally wanted a Supra but no manual was a dealbreaker. Now I honestly like the new Z more than the Supra…but I absolutely would NOT trade my M2c for one. So I guess the same goes for the Supra.

I’d own any of those cars if circumstances were different though. We are spoiled for choices right now, if I had the money I’d own all 3!

Manual Supra...think they kinda missed out on even higher early success by not adapting one from the beginning and after enough bemoaning, caved, allowing the Z to get its chops together.

I drove the Supra. It was impressive but the suspension wasn't as sharp as my M2C. A few other things that bothered me was the visibility and the fact that it's impossible to have a leasurly drive with the windows down because of wind buffeting.
Nonetheless it is a very nice car, I just prefer the M2C.

I had a Supra and the buffeting is $9 fix. Your other points are fair and I'll say that in my mind, the M2C is a better driving car. While the interwebs suggest that the Supra's appearance is hideous, akin to a sporty version of a Pontiac Aztek, the other problem with the Supra is so many people want to stop you and chat about it. Universal and daily praise to the point of being a distraction.

But sweet geezus it's tough to see out of.

I love the new supra, the name in and of itself brings so many aftermarket companies to the table and as a result it really benefitted the bmw community (b58 guys) as well - in terms of parts availablility.

I also really like the GR corolla, very nice platform and finally a decent reliable (very important) awd manual japanese hatch has come back to the market. This platform has shown to make alot of power reliably which is really nice since the sti was so unreliable I ran from that platform, and the evo had some nagging issues (weak rods, fuel pump fuse, garbage transmission etc). So this car will make a really nice daily imo.

Manual Supra, thank you please I'll take one. Love the new design, though I would prefer a 2+2 like the MKIV. But objectively, I assume the take rate on a Supra manual would be far less than a auto.
