CCBs isn't an M Perf part.
I'm sure there are people willing to install them regardless... this is not a M2 CSL imop

I don't believe this is the CSL and if it is, I'd be disappointed.

CSL's are supposed to be the top of the crop for BMW and a few M-performance bits here and there should not cut it. They should give more of the Vision Gran Turismo concept...

IMO it should look more like this, with wider F/R fenders, the Vision GT rear wing etc:

Ehhhh.....that wing is way too much for my tastes - I don't even like it on a GT3, much less the entry level M car.

Also, I don't equate big wing with aggressiveness....

The E46 CSL didn't have anything like that, so no reason to believe we would expect to see a huge eyesore on this car, be it a CS or CSL.

Got it - didn't realize that.

The development of this car will be very interesting - the CS is the easy way out, which is the road I expect BMW to take....

Happy they are making a CS, proves there's still a market for a more compact coupe, but with an M2c on order there is no way I'd cancel for this. Was at my dealer recently and they had an M4 CS on the floor. Beautiful in SMB and the gun metal 763M wheels are the best BMW has made imo, but MSRP was $114K I just can't justify the premium BMW is charging for the "CS".

Say the M2 CS comes with all the CF m-perf parts, lip, wheels, a tune, CCB option, and a "stripped" interior. I suspect they'll price it somewhere in the mid 80s. Only thing I'd definitely want is the CF roof and almost entirely for the aesthetics. Anyone saying they feel the weight savings must be a pro driver, but that I am not. I'd much rather save the $20K+ and put half of that into making the car exactly what I want. Not to mention potentially losing the MT.

Anyone holding out for the S58 in this thing but it is most definitely the S55.

The problem is they will not be able to take enough weight out of this car to be significant, 100-150 lbs would be about it through the use of carbon fiber and manual seats. I think 100 lbs is pretty optimistic really. Of course there is always room for suspension tuning and HP but this will likely be a limited edition car that costs a ton and won't be driven because collectors/speculators will park them.

Updates look too minor, definitely has CS model written all over it.

I believe the comeback of the CSL badge will be a much bigger deal and be on a more expensive platform. Don't see CSL badge being on any F-series car.

Another reason why this won't be the comeback of the infamous CSL badge.

All CF pieces (roof, fenders, trunk lid, hood) ==> -50lbs (if they decide to add fenders and trunk lid too)
CCBs ==> -25lbs over blue brakes or -60lbs over silver BBK on M2C
763M wheels ==> -8lbs over 437Ms or -17lbs over 788Ms on M2C
Lithium battery ==> -30lbs (or even more)

So they can save close to 160lbs over M2C without even touching the interior. If they add manual AC, manual seats, lightweight door trim etc total weight savings can be near 200lbs.

I would agree. I think the black cars could get away with the hood being partially painted though.

CS carries a 35% premium over M3/M4 Comp. So M2CS, $80k...plus another $8k for CCB. Honestly if it is just some Mperf parts, a tune, and optional CCB. That would be a major let down, not worth the premium. They will advertise the weight of the car with the CCB, meaning you will need to pay $8k to get the advertised weight loss.

They could obviously do more, but from what we can see.(Trunk looks like a no go, since they made a CS like lip spoiler.)

Hood - 11lbs
Roof - 19lbs
763M - 17lbs
CCB - 60lbs
+ few lbs for splitter & rear lip spoiler

~100lbs (~40lbs without CCB)

So how would someone go about ordering one of these?

I've never been in the market for a CS or CSL model, so can I just go to the dealership and ask for an allocation once it's officially announced? Or should I place a refundable deposit with the dealership right now to save a spot on the allocation list for me?

I know with Porsche for the GT division cars you have to be on a special list years before the car is even announced and even then only VIPs stand a chance......

I love this!

It's taken me a while, but thanks to Bimmerpost, I now understand the Hindu concept of transmigration, part of the Samsara doctrine of cyclic existence. It goes thus:

1. M2 CS is rumored, and current M2C owners begin debating whether it's worth it to upgrade

2. Car is unveiled with a launch color of Old Bridge Green. 83 Bimmerpost threads appear overnight arguing whether the color is actually a runny pus yellow or if it's a vomit green

3. Stock wheels are newly introduced exclusive 757M with 84 spokes, and weigh 40kg. Each. Tires by Continental

4. Press event takes place at Chicagoland Speedway, a 1.5mi tri-oval Nascar track, in Joliet, IL - conveniently located near the Joliet Penitentiary, should anyone need to visit a wayward uncle

5. As arquitecto pointed out, all reviews begin: "How the M2 should have been all along...”

6. M2 CS shows up on BMW configurator, and 757M wheels come in 2 options: black or gun metal grey. Both wheels actually turn out to be painted porcelain white

7. First ED of M2 CS is a Bimmerpost forum member, who posts pictures and immediately says, "I got her today! Too bad all the rest of you M2C owners are stuck with the M2 Civic!"

8. As cntzl pointed out, "Cptobvious, an M2C owner, will get a chance to drive M2C and M2CS back to back and conclude M2C has much better low end kick and M2CS has lost its soul"

9. Finally, Cptobvious will cave, trade in his M2C for $18k, and purchase the $98k MSRP M2 CS... but also pay an additional $20k market adjustment applied by Braman BMW of West Palm Beach, Florida

10. 1 month after purchase... M2 CSL is announced

Then another forum member will say m2cs as a whole package is flawed because the OPF’s make the car sound like a lawnmower and as such the car without the opf is the true m car.

Looks like the CS equivalent to me, not like a more extreme GTS/CSL.

I think if these potential M2C or M2cs buyers would just test drive a 1M first......they would reconsider their position.

I did and I couldn't be happier

I would say at least 70% would end up purchasing a pre-owned 1M over an M2 if they could just drive them back to back.

I understand tho that some want a new car with a warranty ect ect......but, they are missing out in my opinion!

Find a dealer who likes you, or alternatively a dealer who does volume. Show them this post, and put a refundable deposit for one. Ask him to show your place on the list after that. If you’re more than third on this list, try at another dealer.
