can i jack up the front of the car from the frame cross brace?
I'm installing downpipes and midpipes working on the garage floor. I have it up on jack stands and want to raise it a bit more. Is it ok to jack on the frame cross brace that is underneath the bellypan stiffening plate? it is the main crossbrace just to the front of the motor (probably 2x2 square aluminum). Thanks

see here https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...way/1VnXqUPzxA Please be careful and chock the rear wheels though! Edit: you are looking for the dimple or volcano under there. Last edited by Megator; 11-05-2019 at 10:20 AM.. |

Yes you can. You can even jack up the car from the rear subframe.
I used these points when I installed a MP Suspension couple weeks ago.

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up limiting my beer intake so I was able to squeeze under the car on jackstands. I can feel my abs as I got a bunch of situps in.

So to everyone saying yes the TIS says No. The OP is saying to lift the car from the frame behind the stiffening plate.
"Vehicle may only be raised with stiffening plate fitted on the front axle! Raising directly on the front axle support without stiffening plate is not permissible"

Its saying you can't jack a normal 2 series in this way due to the lack of stiffening plate. Also not like ppl dont do this with out a hitch... https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1346090 And I don't really get OPs point but as i stated its the volcano looking thing you want to be on. |
