That 500 figure has started to lead its own life. It was initially posted in this article, but later on the following update message was added:
"Update: An earlier version of this story stated the number of cars BMW will send to America; the automaker says it is unable to confirm the exact number of units that will be sent here at this time. We have updated the post accordingly."
So you can ignore that 500 figure for now.

Most modern street legal cars are heavy. Cars won't lose any weight as they become more hybridized and electric, so might as well enjoy what we have now instead of bemoaning that cars today are heavier than they were 30 years ago.

Base price = 6-speed manual transmission + non-metallic body color (Alpine White).

  • Base price for Switzerland (source: BMW Group PressClub Schweiz - see here):
"Der Einstiegspreis für den BMW M2 CS liegt bei CHF 114'900.-"
Using your german Euros price, deducting VAT and converting into USD—— the M2 CS will most certainly be in the $85k range in the US market for the base car.

This formula works 95% of the time for an accurate price.

How many buyers will this car have at $85k? Some—-but not a lot. How many buyers over $90k? Very few, IMO.

The trunk should have the interior frame have m performance font molded into it like the one at bimmerfest and with the individual paint options no extra charge. Not sure if that was like a military or gun metal gray.
Interesting to see that under the CF trunk you have a mount for the wing. or is it for something else.
It does have some sort of spoiler on the trunk not sure how it's attached though.

Honestly, I'd like to know more about the eLSD on this M2. Is it a toque vectoring type or the type I have on my 335i where brakes are applied to the spinning wheel which makes it somewhat unpredictable and it feels synthetic. Swapping out the eLSD for a mechanical one like the M Performance LSD (which is a mechanical LSD) is a common mod for track rats and driving enthusiasts and comes highly recommended.

Does anyone have any technical info on the M2C eLSD?

I'm pretty sure the M-differential in the M2 is a real LSD that apportions torque itself, and not a virtual LSD that is done by braking a spinning wheel. The "e" refers to the fact that the amount of torque being applied to whatever wheel is adjustable and is adjusted electronically within the diff.

To put it another way - it's a mechanical diff with an electronic control to the amount and direction of torque split.

It anyway can have only 2200 buyers worldwide

This will be a collectors car at first, so not many of these 2200 will hit the streets regulary. And collector items are expensive

BMWs are not collectors items, we have seen this many times in the past decade and beyond....they do not hold any value, regardless of the hype! I know since I have voted with my wallet previously unfortunately. I will wait and see how this one goes.

And then you will have the American dealers adding 15K premium on top of it because they think there is a market for that car next to the Camaros and Caymans

the 1M has held value solely due to rarity... there is just about nothing special about that car... the M235i best it on just about every track lol

1M was the only one available in the US. And a different price point too than the CS and GTS M cars. The market will be very limited at the price point anticipated for it, but we will see what happens.

Porsche GT cars are getting pricey too and typically hold their value much better than all M, AMG and RS limited editions.....

So I am confused on how this differs from the current M2/M3/M4, or at least the current M3/M4. I thought they all had subframes directedly bolted to frame with no bushings?

From the original M4 press release "Rear axle subframe bolted directly to body structure (bolted joints between the axle subframe and the body sills, without use of elastic rubber elements)"

So this really isn't a change or what am I missing?

Nothing.. BMW just copy and pasted the same literature from the 2014 M4 release.

I mean, the M2 CS is mechanically equivalent to a M4 Competition in a smaller package, same Adaptive Suspension and all, with the addition of a lot of carbon fiber. So you really can't blame them for leaving it as is.

With a $85-90k USD price tag say goodbye to the people on the waiting list. People will be dropping off the wait list on the CS like flies!

While I LOVE the carbon center console, there is no arm rest or storage in it... Might just be nitpicking here, but why was it removed? You can't tell me that it adds THAT much weight. Where are you to put your phone and wallet?

In the U.K. electric seats are an option, not sure what the other options are yet, but it looks like they have tried to keep the price down, by keeping the spec down.

Agree 100%! I'd buy one for $85,000, with a manual transmission!!!

Of course, it wouldn't stay Misano Blue for long. It would quickly become clothed in protective, San Marino Blue Autoflex paint.

That would be worth it.

I agree that the CS is pricey. It really is bad timing as the gen 1 GT4s have already started to slide.

Fast track times do not special car make

People vote with their wallets when it comes to "specialness". 1M definitely qualifies there.
