Exhaust valve?
Hello this is my first thready in this forum, pardon my english.
Does anyone know in what condition does the exhaust valve close/open? I notice even at idle my exhaust valve is open. I did bring this question to local BMW dealership and it's also open at idle on the other M2. We played with comfort/sport/sport+ nothing changes. Drove the car so it reach normal temp the valve still open. We even open the valve actuator to see if it's rotating, which isn't. If the valve remains open why BMW put the valve in the first place? |

In SPORT and SPORT+ positions, the exhaust flap is fully open when the engine is idling while the vehicle is stationary and in the lower gears. unquote |

The valve will be open upon cold starts and eventually will shut once warmed up. After that, to get the valve back open you will have to switch it into Sport or Sport+ mode, and get the car past I believe 3.8k rpms and it will open back up and stay open.

I can confirm that the valve is open in comfort mode at idle when the engine already warm up. for me this is still mystery.. anyway it's better to stay open than closed. It's just that i need to be more subtle on the right foot when passing quiet neighborhood

I have the same "problem". The exhaust valve on my M2 stays OPEN, I can't see it closed.
After installing the Akrapovic exhaust system, the valves (Akrapovic provide a second flap with an harness and a control module to connect it) stay OPEN all the time. (I didn't buy their "Sound Kit" aka "remote control"). I thought the problem came from Akrapovic module, so I disconnected all the Akrapovic hardware and reconnected the valve as stock, but it won't close...

I'm also having a similar issue and it's even more noticeable with my newly installed Dinan exhaust. i absolutely love it when im really on it with the valve open but when im cruising i'd love to know that it's closed. with the Dinan especially since when the valve is open all the gasses are directed to the far right pipe alone, which doesn't travel through the exhaust can at all. the other three, which do are inactive. pretty much like not having an exhaust at all.
is there a way to code it to stay totally closed when in comfort mode?

Get the BMS canflap module! I just installed it, it's awesome! Press the BC stock button and you can turn the valves open/closed/stock functionality. And there are additional features as well. You literally plug it right into the OBDII port! There's also the Macht Schnell EVC with a few more features but also a little more effort to the install. Both great options for full valve control!

I had the Remus Exhaust. It's the same for every exhaust. If you want valve control get the BMS CANflap Module (I have that) or the Macht Schnell unit and you can control the valves (between open, closed, and stock) from the BC stock button, pretty cool! I can say tho with the valves closed on the Remus it isn't that much quieter... |

Had the Remus system fitted yesterday, a mate was following me and could see the right hand flap opening and closing while i was driving, the left side flap however did not move at all, anyone else experience this? seeing the flaps are wired in unison they should operate together, yes? I'm assuming installation error?

Has anyone on this thread (or anyone else for that matter) been able to resolve the issue where the exhaust valve simply doesn't work? Mine is permanently stuck open and won't close under any circumstance. The BMW Tech's at my dealership are stumped too. Appears it never worked right from the factory.
I did a more detailed write-up about it on Post #13 in this thread: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1516177 The response we got from the PuMA BMW Tech was quite amusing. *I have the Dinan exhaust/res delete combo and the ASD Bypass installed (not that it should matter for the valve functionality though). |

I recently acquired an Akrapovic and it seems like my flaps are open all the time as well. Not a huge deal for me as I still have the stock DP and the Akrapovic exhaust is not that loud and I'm 98% in Sport or Sport+ mode when driving anyway which means the flaps would be open regardless.

That's exactly why I bought one. I have a 200cell fabspeed sportcat and sometimes the car is louder than I want it to be so being able to force shut the valves at times is very helpful. Like you said, if your cat is stock then it won't be super useful but if you do decide to change it out later you'll definitely want valve control.

According to this document, when drive mode is set to Comfort the exhaust flap should close. Mine refuses. Have you tested this with your car sitting at idle to see if your valve closes? (after the initial startup has settled down of course) |

I hadn't heard of the CG before. Really like the idea of integration with Homelink . If I ever get this resolved I'll certainly check that one out. I checked out the link but I don't see install procedure anywhere. Am I missing it? |

It's a really easy install but the car has to go up on a lift or at least the rear needs to be up on jack stands. Took like 5-10 min to install mine once the car was in the air. It's plug and play, no modifications needed. |
