True, but this represents only production through June. Most of the HEA models have been produced and delivered already, and the handful of allocations seem to be May and June production dates. If they produced no further cars for the calendar year, that would mean stopping M2 production after June. I don't see how that makes sense. My estimates put production at 50-75 NA spec cars per month. Some dealers will get one or two a month, some will get one every two or three months.

My assumption is that "for the year" doesn't necessarily mean calendar year, but model year. Else things just don't line up. This would also jive with what I saw last year with the F80. MY2017 will not be a ton of allocations, but people low on the waiting list should at least see something before the end of calendar year 2016. If things track like they did, every dealer will get at least 1 MY17, with higher volume dealers getting more.

This makes 100% intuitive sense to me.

I don't buy into logic that says only MY2016s (~450 of them for US, including HEAs) will be produced in calendar year 2016

Allocations granted, not promised.

Yes, it would. But they are not going to do that.

Makes sense. That's about right - 50-75 US spec cars/mo. There are over 300 US dealers. Where does the math not work out?

No one is saying only MY2016 will be produced this year.

What's your source here? Almost all of the 300 or so HEA cars are already on the ground. They have already been produced. Many have been delivered. I've called almost every dealership in IL and WI, and not a single one so far has said they aren't getting their HEA car by Saturday. They're all spoken for, of course. That would mean production starting late last year or early this year, which seems to track. We have allocations this month for May and June.

These allocations have production dates, so I'm not sure how they aren't promised. I'm actually not quite sure what you mean here, though.

The math doesn't work out because production isn't starting in April, it already started and HEA cars are already here, for the most part. There are 8 calendar months left, and even a scant 50 allocations per month in the US is 400 additional cars than we have now, which seems to be about 300-400 at current.

Source?

I'm not try to be cheeky and start an argument, but if what you say is true, then we would only be getting 300-400 cars total for the whole calendar year, which is already not the case.

There's too much speculation.

Some of you are speaking in a tone like what being said is 100% fact, which is alarming.

Its' important to anyone reading this thread to know most being said is speculation. I wouldn't just trust statements from dealers. Insiders on this forum with unbiased insider knowledge is much more accurate in my experience.

All we know is, unless this is a identical repeat of the 1M, which means they will soon announce that production is ending, if you want the M2 hard enough, you'll probably get it, if you're patient.

Also it'd be funny to see them put in this much marketing effort and hype then don't produce any cars until start of 2017.

Production is ongoing. We know they are still producing the M2 so why would you say they would wait until 2017? Makes no sense.

Jeez I guess some folks really want to desperately cling to their ideas that magically cars will start getting made. Like it or not, BMW is being very slow and on-going production is extremely limited.

The MY16 cars are sold out already (mostly HEA's) and are produced until June. In July production switches to MY17. Some dealers haven't even received their HEA cars yet, so keep that in mind as those have to be filled prior to customers getting their order.

If at this point you don't have an HEA allocation or a production number with assigned week, you are getting a MY17. Most of the customer orders have been shifted to that model year due to production capacity.

It's as simple as that and no amount of forum disagreement is going to change that.

This I agree with. My only contention was against the idea that all possible allocations for calendar (not model) year 2016 have already been given out, and if you haven't been given an allocation, you shouldn't expect one for the rest of the calendar year. Perhaps I misunderstood what zenmaster was positing.

Either way, I'll bow out here. I'm in spot #1, and they expect 4 this year. So I'll wait patiently while we all shake our collective fists at BMW.

In the same boat as you. Hopefully we will know something for sure soon.

There is so much hype and speculation in this thread it's making my head hurt.

I thought that the order bank post would clear up the confusion. Not make more.

I spoke with a dealer in Rhode Island today and he said that they have 6 allocations for the calendar year and they have 6 people on their list. CA mentioned if I put my name in now on their list, I could get a car around January/February. Then again, nobody really knows for sure whats happening.

When I pulled dealer allocations I didn't see anymore than 3 MAX for NE states. Although I might be wrong.

You guys have me wanting to go into work on my day off just to make sure I'm not in the wrong

haha, well it could be very likely that the CA I spoke with is wrong or is just giving me the run around. But if you do go into work to check, please share the info

I'll be heading in for about an hour... If anyone has any allocations shoot me a PM or just quote the post with dealership and state and I will see what I can do.

I think I see the misunderstanding now. The expected total allocations for the year have been told to each dealer. However, the dealer does not know exactly how many of those they will receive on a monthly basis. That is, in order to fulfill zero, one, or more orders in their order bank.
