Maybe it’s just a case of being in Canada, but is anyone else finding 18” AD09 incredibly hard to find? I really want to try these next summer, but it seems Yoko is taking forever to roll them out, especially in some sizes they didn’t initially list in their PDFs but now do.

I was reading reviews and it seemed the A052's were still better than the 09's. So it just made me think I'd rather stick with the RE-71RS' over the 09's

It's going to be hard to beat the A052 initially, as that's the goal of the tire. But after some mileage the RS and 09R should win out, so it depends on how long you plan to keep the tire.

I think the A052 is in a different and more aggressive category. The AD09 seems to me like it's more streetable, like the original AD08.

Well....It's still in the 200TW rating, but I'd street drive 71RS over A052.

Yeah I know, but if you look at the tread, the AD09 has more void area. Seems like compromises for wet/hydroplaning performance.

As Chris said, AD09 are more streetable than A052. They are the successor to the ever so popular but outdated AD08R, which initially were rated at even 180tw before being updated to 200tw later. As you know with 200tw tires, there are literally subcategories of tires within, such as Hankook RS4 being tough endurance 200tw tires, and A052 being “single lap” time attack wonders before they start to overheat. The AD09 will be closer to that of an RS4, and it’s main improvement over its predecessor is grip, especially in the wet.

I’m running RS4 now and they’re great for my use case. But I need to replace them this summer and would love to try something new. I only track a few times a year and don’t want to deal with tire/wheel swaps. Running A052 wouldn’t make sense for my needs, especially for it’s cost and how short they last, but AD09 would.

Quick update now that I've had the AD09s for about 3 months and done a few autocross events. I think the AD09s excel as a streetable 200tw tire. They ride well for this class of tire, gives good steering feel, and has really good dry grip.

I haven't tried the RE71RS yet, but I don't think it's quite at that level of dry grip (maybe 5% less). The AD09s are also surprisingly good in wet weather.

If you only have one set of wheels and want a "do it all" 200TW tire, the AD09s tick a lot of boxes. If you're purely looking for an autocross tire or track tire, there are probably better options.

It’s a ‘meh’ tire from what I’ve heard.
