Not bad, not as good as a freshly washed and waxed Mineral Grey, but not bad at all.

Luckily for me, 2016 gt4 and a few gt3's were offered in Meteor or Agate or whatever they are calling grey lately. However, I don't think I would get a gt3 in grey.

Wrong. They are done at Leipzig for a lot of money...as I stated.

These colors are nice but you have to be one of those kinds of people not OCD about paint and can handle scratches being permanent seeing you can't clay, polish, or wax the paint.

AFAIK: special ops (re)paint treatment already happened at the "BMW Karo-Lackzentrum" in Garching (BMW Niederlassung München Karosserie- & Lackzentrum: http://bmw-partner.bmw.de/niederlass...ebersicht.html).

You're not right. The past has already happened...it doesn't change based on what you've heard. The individual 1Ms were painted in Leipzig at the end of the production run...

It was not about the 1M what I heard, but about the one-off M2 that was painted. I heard it was repainted... In the end, it doesn't really matter. For now it is interesting to see they are putting other colours on a M2C.

So FYI the Leipzig plant has total capability to do any paint colors and have done weird individual colors in the past. They don't like to do it because it slows down the rest of the cars being made to do an individual colour in the current workflow. I can only speak about the 1Ms that were done there using individual paint...

I'm assuming you are talking about that Austin yellow M2? I don't know the details and you may be right about that being painted elsewhere...with a different timeline. That would probably mean an even higher cost...in all likelihood.

Haha... That is the benefit of a wrap, no polishing or waxing. And the finish seems bulletproof! Bird poop and anything else just wipes off with Speed Shine or whatever you use. Even bird droppings don't stain the plastic. Anyone getting a matte paint would be crazy not to matte wrap it. Seems to defeat the purpose, but few people can really live with matte paint. My car is wrapped in Xpel Stealth. A year later, there isn't a spot or rock chip on it - wrapped it straight from the dealer.

Have this in writing? Not doubting that they told you this, just wondering if they are right.

The Austin Yellow Metallic M2 for Michael Fux was a one-off M2. The body was painted at the Leipzig factory and the thermoplastic trim parts have been painted by BMW M in Garching (Munich). A similar procedure has been used for the Java Green 1M back in 2012 ("Green Mamba"): the Leipzig factory received the painted thermoplastic trim parts from the BMW plant in Landshut. (Source: BMW - see here).

Breakdown of the $114K Austin Yellow Metallic M-DCT M2:
  • Austin Yellow Metallic: $12,795
  • Black Leather with Atacama Yellow contrast stitching: $7,060
  • Additional customization: $26,445
The VIN build sheet (VIN is indicated at the bottom of the sticker that someone managed to photograph) reveals exterior, brake calipers and side mirrors painted Austin Yellow. Interior bits 'n pieces in CF, Atacama Yellow contrast stitching and a "specially made for Michael Fux" door sill mention as cherry on the cake. It doesn't feature the M Driver's Package (option 7ME = V-max of 270 km/h (168mph) instead of 250 km/h (155mph) + M Driving Experience course). So it's not full option.

$5-6k depending on who does it. Some may claim a "super" job and ask even more. Get a custom color...you'll need to fully wrap that too. Although a non Stealth wrap is less money since the film is more pliable.

Frame that email. Or at least take a pic and post it!
Most entertaining rumor we've seen on this board in a while.

Breakdown of the $114K Austin Yellow Metallic M-DCT M2:
Funniest thing is that who would pay $114k for an M2? Really? Even if it was 18k gold plated. Obviously someone did pay that much, but it has like no premium resale value. This is not like a 993 turbo in PTS. True waste of money.
