Some dealers think that there will be a huge premium on M2 sales when it comes out.
If the M2 at launch is selling at a $5,000 - $10,000 premium I'd rather get an M4.

That really depends on the dealer, when the 1M first came out my dealer priced one for me and there was no premium.

If no one is dumb enough to pay over MSRP, then no dealer will ever get away with attempts to price-gouge.

Premium, no premium or even at a discount, the fact remains that this car base price will be in a spot that has too many excellent competitors. Some with way over 500hp and better track numbers such as the Stingray. Waste of time for BMW to produce such a vehicle but then again there are always Blackberry's fans out there that swear their handsets are better than Apple or Androids.

Isn't lci 3 getting an updated n55 next year? My gut says m2 gets a version of that. Future 335is engine? N55b30t0?
M car should have slightly detuned s55 engine or single turbo version not n55. |

The starting price of a Stingray is already $10k less than the MSRP of the M4 and they still released the M4 which has less HP than the stingray. It's not just about HP or track times. No offense but thank God BMW does not hire people with your logic of thought.

Keep in mind that the comments above quote directly the production schedule release information leaked on the forum a while back. The engine code is N55 based, not S55. Note the language in the C&D article: Quote:
Prolific adjective present in large numbers or quantities; plentiful. Basically, the author of this article suffers from a bit of ignorance. He has conflated the S55 and N55, which is obviously not the case. You can ignore this bit in the article. It is poorly informed.

One of the BIG and main reasons BMW needs to build the M2 is because the M3, M4,M5,M6, are just to BIG..although beautiful cars i can not believe how they have grown..as again i was looking at them yesterday. As the 135i was supposed to be the 2002Ti successor the M2 hopefully will bring back the magic the 1M brought us. BMW needs the M2 the NEED a smaller coupe... and if they were smart would offer it in a less is more philosophy when it comes to luxury...IMO the best size M was the E46...perfect size...the trend these days is bigger and more....bring back the less is more when it comes to size and weight....for that matter give me the Alacantra interior and cloth Alacantra seats and 6/mt and send me on my way....This is the turning point for BMW and size....it's ok to make a smaller M coupe...its really OK...we will buy small!

Defn, the F8x is too big for me. If I'm going to go with a turbo car again, I want it to be nimble but do like some of the creature comforts that are offered in the new m3/m4 like the headsup display.
Does anyone know think that will be offered with the m2?

1) The M2 won't be announced as a limited production release. When the 1M came out, we all knew it wouldn't be around for long, and so did the dealers. 2) The M2 is being released in to a completely different automotive environment. The 1M spurred responses from Mercedes (CLA 45 AMG) and Audi (S3, RS3) in the compact sports car segment. Buyers have alternatives that aren't charging huge markups. Sure, there will be cases where some idiot with more money than sense will overpay for an M2, but I predict anyone who is looking for a car at a reasonable price will find one. Look for an environment similar to the M235i where availability was limited at the beginning, but is beginning to open up.
