Arrow M2 out testing in the Wild...

Some more pics of the M2 out testing in the Wild...

The sensor on the roof is for vehicle speed. You see cars with this sensor when BMW is testing different tire sizes.

To reiterate the M2 info we've posted thus far:

Quote:
The 2016 M2 (F87) is taking shape, now testing with the quad exhaust that's become a hallmark of BMW M vehicles. This time the prototype is fitted with wheels from the M3/M4 prototype which did not make production. Earlier prototypes were testing with the M3/M4 19" Style 437M wheels.

As before, we see the aggressively flared fenders and wider track, M brakes (which will be painted blue on the production M2), drilled rotors and M limited slip differential.

Although its front and rear bumpers are now taped up, they remains M sport bumpers (like the earlier prototypes). We will see the M2 bumpers, along with any other cosmetic bits added later in testing.

The M2 will begin production in late Fall 2015, for deliveries in late 2015 - early 2016. It will feature the N55 turbo inline 6 engine (N55B30T0), producing around 370-380 PS (365-375 HP).

Too bad it won't have the m4 engine. I hate when they neuter cars so as to not compete with the next model up. Porsche does it with the cayman so as to not steal away any 911 sales. This car could have been soooo much better. What we really wanted was a smaller m4. What we are getting is a beefed up 2 series

Just hope that the price won't go to the roof as it seem like to be the case with recent BMW.

I have to admit, the m2 has definitely sparked my interest. however I think it will be a tough sell to the folks on here that are currently rocking an e9x n55 platform. I mean with a good tune and some bolt ons, guys are getting those numbers.......I'm not sure the body styling alone would warrant getting out of an almost perfect e9x (visually IMO) platform. we will see I guess.

I'm happy for the production car to use the M235i racings body panels however not so happy about the side skirts, looks so odd to me, if they fill out the side skirts the car will be perfect

Im guessing we wont have carbon roof? So far not a single prot with camoed roof.
I know they are going in stages with the production parts, but the roof usually its there on the very early prots

I'm inclined to agree...doesn't bode well for those wishing for a carbon roof. Somewhat disappointing, but not unbelievable as they must differentiate this car from its older siblings.

Really liking the seemingly aggressive bodywork, though. That may well make up for the lack of a carbon roof.

It is most likely the same calipers as the F3x and F8x with drilled rotors (maybe identical to the F8x). The F8x uses identical calipers to the F3x 2NH/M Performance brakes.

I'm also betting no Carbon driveshaft, but hoping. Have to keep the price down and keep M3/4 the premier performers.

Still, no one curious about that color? I don't recognize it, but love it. Blend between Sparkling Graphite Metallic and Space Grey.

Looks great, but I'm disappointed that it will be an N55 based engine, instead of the S55 derivative (detuned, etc).

One of the great things about the S55 was its cooling...that thing is track ready! I don't see how the N55 (with additional cooling, etc) will be a track adequate car, but I guess we'll have to see.
