For u guys going stg2 w/dp I recommend
Sport+, Sport+, no MDM, LVL I DCT in auto. Otherwise it's shots fired. LVL II or above is like auto gun fire. Will surely give a few of us out there PTSD. |

M2 button: Sport+, Comfort, MDM. The M2 button is the closest to my thumb. Comfort steering transmits more feeling of the road in IMHO. I think the way that the throttle is mapped in Sport+ is smoother for manual shifting, especially 1st to 2nd gear. The exhaust is most aggressive in Sport+.
M1 button: Comfort, Efficient for less drone on a long freeway trip. If I'm going to do DSC off then I just do it manually. I have a 6MT so sport modes don't affect shifting. I have no problem using Sport+ when the car is cold since I'm in control of shifting rpm. I guess that someone with a DCT would need to consider shifting behavior. |

I too have a 6MT. I'm curious, is there an actual chart or info on how the valves work in Efficient, Sport and Sport+?
Sport+ does seem a little bit louder than Sport, but I don't know if that's the ASD tricking me. And a bit more burbles maybe. But I'd like to see if there's actually info on it. I thought for example before that Sport+ left the valves open all the time, but I've read posts saying while it leaves the valves open the most, they are still not open all the time. So with a tune, leaving valves open all the time, presumably one would get a slightly louder exhaust sound compared to Sport+ even? |

When setting off out of the garage, I leave it on normal.
M1 Mode: When just driving around the neighborhood after the engine is warmed up, I hit M1 (Comfort EVERYTHING). M2 Mode: When I get to some nice open roads, then it's all M2 (Sport+ EVERYTHING) time! |

Custom programmed DME setup.
On startup I use the default which in my "MT" M2C is Efficient engine mode and Sport chassis mode (steering for MT). If I want it to sound like a beast on startup I click the M1 button which is programmed to MDM/Sport/Sport before starting the car. I have programmed the car to open the exhaust valves permanently in Sport and Sport+ engine modes. I've programmed engine Sport mode for mild mean but tasteful burbles, it's for all but the stealthiest situations. Sport+ is for car meets :-), it's programmed for all out burble mania. Normal good weather driving: MDM/Sport (mild burbles)/Sport Normal good weather driving stealth: MDM/Efficient (quiet as a mouse)/Sport Wet, cold or gravel: Sport/Sport, no MDM Long boring freeway drive: Efficient/Sport, no MDM because of Cruise Control limitation Car meet, show off mode: MDM/Sport+/Sport |

Sport for steering & throttle.
Traction almost always set to MDM. Thought I'd like the popular Sport+ throttle with comfort steering combo, but Sport throttle is juicy enough with a bit more control, although Sport+ seems to slow the car better off-throttle. Comfort steering feels completely wrong to me for the weight distribution of the car, and it doesn't return to center the way I like. Sport+ steering is too heavy despite the good off-center feel. I also came from an M240ix. That one I liked most in DSC OFF mode for aggressive driving, which I think was standard throttle, sport+ exhaust & faster shifts with the ZF. On the highway I liked Sport with the gearbox in D. |

I usually leave it in the default mode until the oil temp is good (e.g., efficient/sport) and then hit the M2 button, which I have set up for sport+/sport+, MDM mode). I set M1 to sport/sport, which I sometimes use while the car is warming up; as far as I can tell, the oil seems to reach temperature at the same time in both efficient and sport engine modes (vs. with the extra cooling provided in sport+).

M1 -
Steering Comfort Tranny 2 Shift Speed and Automatic Throttle Sport MDM traction M2 - Steering Comfort Tranny 3 Shift Speed and Manual Throttle Sport Plus MDM Traction A few things I've learned... there is almost exclusively 0 value to having steering in anything other than comfort unless you just want artificially heavy steering, it does nothing for feel or response. Another thing I found bizarre is that the car on startup is in efficient mode throttle and sport steering (beyond me why it wouldn't be comfort by default). For daily driving, I use my M1 mode, for Fun driving M2... |

I wish the steering worked the same way. After getting used to Sport, I switched to comfort and have decided I like it significantly more. I can't foresee a time when i'd ever want to use sport or sport + steering in the future, i think it would honestly mess with me in hard driving to suddenly have different steering effort. That means i have to burn one M button (M1) for just my standard driving mode (Comfort steering, eco throttle, full stability.) That leaves one button for fun mode (Comfort steering, sport + throttle, MDM.) If the steering defaulted back to comfort instead of sport every time i turned the car on or off or used an M button, i'd have one button set to "half fun" and one set to "full fun" with no TCS whatsoever so I could do my own rev matches. |
