I figure this DCT/Auto vs Manual dispute was my only source of contention here on BP but apparently there is whole other war brewing in the AWD vs RWD department:

By that point, I'd be willing to bet a shiny nickel that they'll be heading down that road, too. The E63 is AWD now, and it wouldn't be surprising if the next C63 is, too. RWD is getting nearly as rare as manuals.

That will be a sad day when AWD is the default layout.. I love me a BMW for its renown RWD+LSD+Manual platform, they'll be changing their paradigm..

Mercedes going all AWD is also a shame.. One would no longer be able to do stuff like this smokey burnout below, in the middle of midtown Manhattan..

Wow, haven't seen that video in a long time! I'm halfway torn between he's a fucking asshole citizen (definitely is) and wow what a getaway from TIMES SQUARE. Truly amazing he got out.

It's probably not the same Escort you guys got, but my brother bought a 1977 2L Escort Ghia 4 speed manual in the 80s. It was an odd Australian thing where they jammed the Cortina engine into the little Escort body. That thing was insane at the time Leaf springs and all. It wanted to kill you. It weighed just over 900kg (1984lbs). And this included the (real) wood panelled dashboard and vinyl roof. I still love that car and would like to own one.

Yea, it's dumb to run in NYC, the cameras will more than likely get your plate info, especially in a hotspot area like Times Square, so it's only matter of time before they show up by the registered owner's address, with an ass whooping on in tow.. May as well throw in the towel and take your lumps..

However, I get the fight or flight response and as you can see, he was merely trying to dodge the cop, not strive him.

The cop, like a dumbass, used his body as a human roadblock - good luck with all that.

Anyways, I'm sure historians or parole officers will study its intricate meaning behind his motive but to the subject, what a mean burnout, even if it was a one-wheel-peel..

Funny enough I came from MB because I'm not a fan of what they're currently doing. I doubt things will change for the better later on, so don't think I'll be going back. The problem I have now with a lot of performance cars is they're becoming increasingly over-complicated.

I love the M2C because it just sticks to the age-old formula of "simplified" performance car, which I appreciate the hell out of. Long front end, short rear end, RWD. It's perfect. There's no luxurious leather, no massaging seats, no stupid ambient lighting, no touchscreens everywhere, no when you open the door the Batman symbol gets thrown up into the sky, etc.

I plan on keeping the M2C for 5-6 years then probably going Porsche after.

In terms of the ancient argument of "Auto vs. MT" it's also very simple for me - pick one that suits how you're using the car and be happy with it.

If I was dailying my M2C, there's no way I'd opt MT. MT is a pain in the ass to daily, I don't care what anyone says. But I bought my M2C as a weekend car, so in that respect, MT makes sense because then it's just for pure enjoyment of rowing through the gears and not trying to get through traffic without losing your sanity.

I thought the M2 would be my fun car too, but I only drive the M2 now. I have to force myself to start and move around the other 3 cars these days, so they dont die on me LOL!

You do? How about you stop like the cop asked, and listen to what he has to say? I'm not sure on what parallel universe that "flight" response is warranted or even somewhat acceptable. Most likely the cop would have just warned the guy to cut it out.

Yea, I don't condone his actions, he should of stopped and deal with the consequences but he rolled the dice and took the chance of escaping.

When I was younger and into the street racing scene, if the cops show up, you run like a bat out of hell. You don't hit them, you just go around them. It might not be ethical but it beats spending the night in Central Bookings..

What can I say, not everyone is going to get into Heaven.. :

Had that incident not been caught on tape become a viral video, it would of been written off as another asshole that escaped the cops. The end.

I know a lot of people that have had even more daring escapes and it was never heard of again.

As a vehicle ages; bushings, shocks, belts, ect. wears out, making the machine less efficient than it originally was. So I would not keep an automobile pass 75,000 miles, hence the reason I'm looking to the future of upgrading, while still sort of staying the same.

I like to know that I'm riding in a mechanically safe and responsive vehicle, when I'm doing 80 down a school zone, so I would never keep a car past what I deem is it's useful shelf-life.

Hahahah, parole officers. I'm curious as to what the final outcome is. The clip on youtube has a lot of back and forth. I got to say it's impressive he got out of there though...do I dare say, it was epic? Yeah, that was epic.

The driver got 9 months in prison. He had priors for some serious drug sale charges, so I'm sure that didn't help.

Obviously, some upstanding citizens but although they're some shitheads, let's be real; he obviously was trying to avoid hitting the cop. The cop just grew some chest hair and believed that he was Superman, which is dumb, even for a silly badge and paycheck.

I can't believe in 2019, only 2% of vehicles that was sold in the US, had a bonafide third pedal..

I estimated that the take rate was at least like 7 to 10%, give or take..

It's truly a dying breed, grab one while you still can.. #SadEmoji
