AFAIK you're mixing up a BMW option code with a BMW wheel design code:
  • BMW option code "788" = M double spoke 68 wheel for the BMW E46 (3-Series) (see for example here and here);
  • BMW option code "2QT" and "29U" = 788M wheel design for the BMW M2 Competition.

Not only do I not have info on the wheels, it would appear that I don’t know much about BMW wheels either.

True dat - just wish it were a little longer, because my lease on the F80 isn't up until early 2020...maybe I can get one of the last M2 Comp builds and get a pull ahead...we shall see.

When getting older, we may get the feeling that each year becomes a short(er) run when reminded by Facebook congratulations that it's our birthday again.

If I remember correctly, 2019 is not the final production year for F87. I guess there will also be 2020 MY as well but I couldn't find that post.

End of production on the F22 isn't until 10/2021, I haven't seen anything specifically referring to the F87 EOP though. I guess it could also follow the end of the line for the S55 and the F83's EOP is 10/2020. Are they going to keep the S55 around for an extra year just for the F87?

Off topic, but this reminded me of "Time" by Pink Floyd.

"And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over
Thought I'd something more to say"

They will make a MY2020 M2 Comp I assume, and that will be the last run.

One of these screenshots also showed October 2020 as M2 Competition end of production date. But that was back then. Time moves on - so do schedules.

If production starts March 2018, should we see VINs appearing of production M2 Competitions?

Artemis,
Would it make sense to have a sticky with Q & A about the M2 Competition? Something like this...

Q: What's new with the M2 Competition vs the outgoing model?
A: Specs, see VINs thread and here, here and here

Q: When will production start.
A: July 18th 2018, see here, here and here

Q: When and where will it be officially revealed?
A: April 25th at the Beijing Motor Show

Q: How much will it cost?
A: TBD, see here, here and here
...

It would help in that these threads wouldn't needlessly be filled with the same questions being answered over and over again. Just my 2¢

Please do this. The redundancy in these threads make my head spin.

Spring is in the air. Won't be too long anymore for BMW to come out of the woods with official M2 Competition info.

Sonnet 60
Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,
So do our minutes hasten to their end;
Each changing place with that which goes before,
In sequent toil all forwards do contend.
Nativity, once in the main of light,
Crawls to maturity, wherewith being crown’d,
Crooked eclipses ’gainst his glory fight,
And Time that gave doth now his gift confound.
Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth
And delves the parallels in beauty’s brow,
Feeds on the rarities of nature’s truth,
And nothing stands but for his scythe to mow:
And yet to times in hope my verse shall stand,
Praising thy worth, despite his cruel hand.

- William Shakespeare -

This is a random question, but is HS a new BMW color? When I search for it on Google, I don't see anything that looks remotely like Gatte's cropped photo from a couple of weeks back.

I hope the Blog is right on the price - a $12K or more bump will help ensure the longterm value of our '16-'18 M2s!

The original story is here: http://www.bimmertoday.de/2018/03/19...rferes-design/. Translate it to your heart's content. I especially like this line from the story, although M2 Comp buyers had better hope it didn't translate properly: "The previously communicated 4.3 seconds for the M2 with 7-speed DKG will undercut the BMW M2 Competition in any case."

Yes, I think it's a new color and based on what I have heard and seen (that leaked image) so far, it's a color that you cannot decide if it's white or silver depending on the light

Hockenheim Silver is the color and it's the launch color. We will see it first!

Hockenheim Silver Metallic is an all-new BMW color.

Yeah, Google sometimes gets confused by passive voice in German. The correct translation should use "will be undercut by".
