I'm thinking they'll stick with a more "boxed out" fender design, reminiscent of the E30 M3. Similar to the M235i Racing, but tied in with the other body panels. Probably more aggressive aero on the rocker panels as well.

Those mule shots are what sold me on the 1M. I knew it was going to be good, just from the obviously bulging rear, and the modification it would take to make running gear fit.
The M2 needs to be extreme in design. The render above is too pretty. Needs more extreme - like the m235 racing flares. Which leave a gaping vent which runs nearly the height of the fender. Pure badassery. Keep it extreme. That's a huge part of what made the 1M so special. Keep the safe fluid designs for the luxo-sedan/coupe buyers. Biggest question I have is: how many transmissions will be offered? |

I love the boxed out fenders from the M235 Racing. I'm hoping they do keep a similar look for the M2!

As Scott says the M2 would be influenced by the M235i Racing, this meen for me it would clearly looks like the M235i Racing, only with better integrated body panels ... the typical modern M front like 1M / F8x M3/M4 and an rear with quad exhaust in M Style ... most probably with an trunk in CSL-Style (but eventualy small chances for an small rear wing - like E30M3) and an carbon roof.
So this mule is an modified M235i Racing but the real look of the M2 would not be so different !!! |

The rear 'bulge' needs to be more pronounced than even the mule. The rear fender flared of the 1M are perfect - in that they jut-out more aggressively, then the mules (and M4's) boring swollen look. Way to smooth.
Two girls have the same body width. The first is overweight and has a pear shaped profile. The second is fit and has an hour glass figure. Which is sexier? |

The little 2er's arse is gonna be full when it gets the quad poo-shoot treatment! Gonna be an awesome car.

Im going to answer my own question about pricing
Starts at $54k with option to add CF roof, unlike the M3 standard with nav and cf roof...the M2 will come with nothing (other than the usual M bits). So basically a modded m235i. Bmw is trying to gain entry level buyers but also have enough goodies for those diehard M fans. A lightly optioned M2 with nav and cf roof will run around $59k...add some blings like carbon brakes and we're in M3 territory

All of you people criticizing it should just be banned. How can you make comments about how it looks without seeing the finished product, or at least reading some of the thread (At least the first post ffs)

Wow, they didn't cut the fenders this time LOL. I love the 1 M so I hope the M2 will not disappoint me, you hear me M guys?!
Actually I'm glad to see the N55 used again. Proper M car needs 6+ cylinders. And yes, I know that the E30 had a 4 banger but that was a different era; the era of naturally aspirated motors without almost any emission and eco restrictions.
