BMW M2 Production Begins November 2015 / March 2016. Plus New Track Video.

Tentative production dates for the 2016 BMW M2 are revealed. Production start dates will be November 2015 (EU/UK) and March 2016 (US) (source: BIMMERPOST future models map).

The M2 will be powered by the N55 turbo inline 6 engine (N55B30T0), which will also power the upcoming X4 M40i. Power output is speculated to be in the range of 370-380 PS (365-375 HP) and the M2 will be available in both manual and DCT.

Spy photos and videos preview what will be aggressively flared fenders, wider track, M brakes (which will be painted blue on the production M2), quad exhaust, drilled rotors and M limited slip differential. M styled bumpers and other cosmetic parts will appear on later prototypes.

The model code for the M2 is F87 and the internal nickname is 'pyrat2', following upon the 1M coupe's 'pyrat' nickname.

Aww man I got so excited thinking it was some substantial news. Not knocking Jason at all because we all do appreciate the latest news no matter what it is, however I guess I just thought it was specific details about the car.

Nice ... if the M235i is anything to go by, this thing will be silly good.

Interested to see the full spec differences between the full ///M car and the ///M Performance version.

I would get this as a (mostly) track day fun car.

Like many here, I think I have a car problem.... scratch that; I know I have a car problem!

24 month lease for the win.

I have been saying this for at least 6 months. Anyone waiting for the rumored m2 ( now confirmed ) should get a 2 year lease.

Says right there in the article and video that it will have quad exhaust. Not to mention the white M2 mule that already shows it.

The reports say the revised N55, and in this video I want to say that it still sounds like an N55 exhaust note.

Until the specs are released, we won't know for sure.

It doesn't have the quad exhaust yet in the video. Wait till we get a vid of the white M2.

Not the same motor. The new M3/M4 has the new S55, not the N55. It's still only rumors on how the M2 motor will differ from the current N55.
