Yep, even if you get divorced, she gets to keep one, along with half of your other stuff. -scr

Last couple of cars lasted eight years each for me, a Mitsubishi Eclipse GT bought in 2001 (yes you can laugh - the paintwork was literally flaking off by the time I traded it in) and my first BMW, a 135i bought in 2009.

So by mid 2016 I was starting to look around to see what was out there. Having enjoyed the 135i I paid particular attention to possible upgrades within the BMW stable. M3s and M4s were too big, I liked the look of the M240i, but I figured if a car had an M badge it should really be a proper ///M car. Then I discovered and started reading up on the M2.

The M2 was the perfect upgrade for me, so much so that I put down a deposit at the dealership without even seeing or test driving the car. I was prepared to wait a year or more for an allocation. Aided and abetted by my wife, who has bought roughly six BMWs in the same amount of years at the same dealership, I was able to get pushed up the wait list. Deposit was placed in July, and I received an allocation by September (November build).

I actually saw my first (LBB) M2 at the dealership about three weeks before I picked my car up. Loving mine so far!

My lucky number being the "2" and loving sports cars I just had to buy one.

All these years it was a real torture watching the M1, then the 3, the 5, the 6. They even invented the inverted 1M. Then the 4 and the X's, but never a 2!

When hope was lost, and imagining BMW could pull off a M7 or even a M8, the series 2 arrived. Hope was reestablished and the thing happened - will arrive in week 9.

For the record - I had an offer for an M3 costing basically the same as the M2 since I was unconfortable with the long waiting times for the M2. Obviously I refused it. How could I buy an odd 3 when I had waited for an even 2 for so many years!
