It is. Some time from now.

Right now it's the right choice if you're stuck in traffic a lot. Until it's the right choice for the race track, it's the wrong choice for me. Peace.

Life's too boring to be fast in a straight line ONLY!

Well then, let me respond with just one word:

I'm not entirely sure I actually enjoy electric cars more than much slower gasoline engined cars, for me a large part of the enjoyment that comes from driving is necessarily derived from straight line speed. If i had to really analyze my enjoyment i'd say it basically comes down to a sense of control over the vehicle. I've never felt that comfortable with the way that electric cars deliver their power, now this could just be from a lifetime of dealing with more traditional power bands, but electric cars just give you too much too soon. I tend to think of Teslas as being incredible muscle cars, which, admittedly makes them cool in their own right, and don't get me wrong i'd 100 percent own a Tesla, i just don't think of it as a "sports car" its not going to scratch that particular itch. I suppose there is nothing fundamental about electric cars i object to though. I've never been in a Tesla roadster, but assuming the driving dynamics were good, i'd probably be totally okay with something like that, though i'd really miss shifting gears. Honestly, gears are kind of a thing in and of themself. I just love the feeling of shifting, like, you're going through acceleration in stages, every shift is a new opportunity to take a split second break before the fun starts again. And of course there's the sound, i've yet to hear anything electric that sounds cool. Granted, some gas engines sound like shit (I drive a 350Z this is a phenomenon I am familiar with) so I can't really just universally give a pass to gasoline engines. Anyway, i think i've made my point which, contrary to what you've just read has nothing to do with the relative merits of gasoline vs. electric propulsion in the automobile, it was actually that you claimed to only be leaving us with one word, when in fact you were giving us four.

I'm interested in this topic, so I appreciate the thorough reviews. Another interesting piece is that the model 3p is now $56k before incentives without autopilot. That's significant performance for the money. I still think I'm leaning on M2CS, but I think the amount in willing to pay is becoming less.

Is it? It's the first car I have ever priced out that almost doubles in price the moment you select the performance version. Starts at $43k CDN and as soon as I click on the performance version its $75k and if you actually want the autonomous features it goes up to $93k. You can buy a lot of great all around cars for that price that don't have the build quality of a Dodge Dart.
Sorry ... when you can buy a BMW 3 series for like $35k and the performance (M3) is double that... this argument goes out the window. Return on investment is very poor for the "performance" models ... 911 starts at $90k.... Turbo starts at $160k... yikes.

So is the back end, side view, 45 degree front driver's side etc. There doesn't appear to be any nice angles from which to view it. I'd say it's up there with the Prius and Pontiac Aztec for exterior design notoriety.

Yes, but this site is called "bimmerpost" not teslapost. Hint: we like Bimmers and German cars here, so be prepared to see that bias manifest on occasion.

I'll get an EV when I can fully recharge it in 5 min or less like I can with my BMW at any of tens of thousands of recharge stations (gas stations) and they have a good looking one(teslas are all ugly) in coupe form that handles like a BMW for a better price than a BMW. so likely never

Chris Harris said it best, Tesla is a one-trick pony. Incredible in a straight line up to a certain point. But I've yet to see one at a track day and am confident it can't complete a full 20 minute session at pace.

Teslas seem to be built for, and most appreciated by, tech and gadget geeks and environmental crusaders, not for car driving enthusiasts.

Musk is a coding nerd that is a great salesman and cult orchestrator, obtaining tons of other people's money to develop Tesla. He is certainly not a driving enthusiast as his goal seems to be to commoditize driving.

Having said that, wonder what Tesla could have done with the resources and technology they do have, if they didn't focus on gadgets like pop-out door handles, in-car games, auto-pilot, gull-wing doors, etc.

I'll let nicknaz chime in on the trackability of the Tesla M3P.
