Repeated post...there is already one in the VS forum
Anyway my reply there Tyres! Supra is on F: 255/35 19, R: 275/35 19 M2C is on F:245/35 19, R: 265/35 19 The M2C is under tyred and towards the end the 245/265 gave up more speed than the 255/275 BMW should have shoved F: 255/35 19, R 285/30 19 as standard or even optional on the M2C as per the E92 M3GTS That 245/265 staggered set up is now 10 years behind time |

I sure do like both of those cars. But I'm in it for the fun, not the track times. I'm happy with being about the same speed if the driving experience is more involving (which it is, thanks to having 50 percent more stuff to do with your feet while driving.)

The width isn't as important as the tire pressure contact patch and the distribution. You're comparing widths of tires while ignoring a million other variables here. This is a variable bias. |

The 2NH brakes are sort of cobbled together...bits from previous cars thrown on to look pretty. It's the one option on our cars in the US that annoys me. I get comments on how "cool" they look from random folk (who are then surprised when I describe them as "kind of stupid", but I wish I could have skipped them for the lighter blue brakes. With what I use the car for, I certainly didn't need brakes this big, and I would have loved the option to go with 18" winter wheels. Oh well. If I actually had much of an opportunity to track this car, I absolutely would be looking at changing out the brakes. |

M2C has more weight and de supra has lower centre of gravity. Also the supra has a shorter wheelbase and that is better in cornering.
BMW makes it s cars to big and heavy and try s to compensate with more horse power. It’s the Wrong way around. Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere. Colin Chapman. |

Tyres are clearly the limitation on the M2C here and non of the car mags I have seen bothered to change to better tyres. Well apart from autobild sportscars which tested a 6MT M2C with Cup 2 and was 2 seconds faster than a DCT M2C on Sachenring, though on different days. In the video they 1. Didn't mention the condition of the tyres 2. Didn't state what pressure the tyres were on 3. Neglect to provide an opinion on why the Supra overtook the M2C towards the end Wider tyres provide more lateral (cornering) grip so I don't understand why you are even trying to dispute that with bigger tyres the M2C will not be faster. The M2C only lost out in the 2nd last corner which is most likely the tyres going south because of over heating or worn out if they weren't fresh tyres in the fast place. |

How often do you see reviewers state tire pressure and condition of the tire? LOL they dont because the average viewer doesnt care. You are grasping at straws here... of course the m2 would be faster on a cup 2, so would the supra. They even stated the M2 was wonderful on the street... thats what matters here. The M2C is not a track car. Its a street car. In stock configuration the M2C is a shitty track car. |

and coming from an e90 M3, and a F80 M3, in terms of "fun" and "tracking", this M2C is the best of the 3. the e90's engine was magestic... the f80 had slightly more power and comfort and features... the M2C is the one I smile the most on when driving. and not to mention the fact that in both Homestead and PBIR tracks, I've sliced at least 1 sec of my times on the M2C than the other 2. So not sure what your comment about "shitty track car" comes from. If you consider the M2C a shit track car, I wonder what you think of the e9X M3 or the F8X M3/4

compared to my previous e82 1M Stage2 the M2C is a comfortable boat. I’m thinking about 265/40/18 square setup, but what to do with the brakes? 400mm front rotors won’t match.

m2c tire setup
after the install of the bilstein clubsport suspension i'll need to upgrad anti roll bars and powerflex black bushes.. stick at 19" or change brake to fit 18s for max. grip on road and track? i like that i can adjust the suspension at every gas station, simply turn rebound/bump and roll again

The thing about this comparison that makes tires an important factor is that the cars are basically both BMWs and that the M2C can fit the 255/275 MPS4S tomorrow with no other modifications. I saw the Supra at a car show sporting those 255/275 MPS4S tires.

True, but BMW chose not to put those on as factory options. So their problem, not Toyota's. At least the Supra is not running Sport Cup 2s.
