I was kind of hoping for some discussion of the quickness of the OG in daily driving... since the premise of the original subject, that a car giving up 40hp but only 150lb lighter is somehow faster, kind of defies the laws of physics.
Ah well. |

More linear build up of the power, any turbo lag that was there before is totally gone, feels NA , totally more responsive to the foot pedal
im sure at the top end it will still not be as good as s55, but i dont redline this thing, not yet anyway |

Prior to this I had a BMS stage 1 and it would chirp tires when taking off at the hard, at the light but then the power would die off at higher RPMs. Which makes total sense since from what I understand; BMW power delivery is based on total load and not just higher boost numbers. With the Dinan ECU, its more of a liner power delivery (no chirping tires) and still gives a nice bump above from 2,500 RPM up to the redline. Also, in comparison to the BMS piggyback, the quality and confidence of the Dinan harness is discernible better. The Dinan harness plugs directly into the ECU and intercepts all the related sensor signals and makes changes before the ECU interprets the data. I believe all other piggybacks on the market are reactive but Dinan is proactive. It also taps into the fuel, timing, lambda, AFR, data where as the BMS only changed boost and timing, forcing the ECU play catch-up to the other demands. I'm not a Dinan fanboy but I'm person the appreciates quality; from a loaf of bread to a go-fast piggyback and Dinan products a top notch and not just all name and a high price, as some would suggest. Even without the warranty, which most likely you'll never need, It's the closest thing to a flash tune without messing with the factory mapping. Which in IMO is worth the price of admission. #YouGetWhatYouPayFor Not an M2 but related to the point: |

I started with Stage 1, went to Stage 4, and then the Dinan turbo with a custom BM3 map. Each step was a lot of fun over the next.
The Dinan turbo doesn’t add a huge amount of peak power, but there’s no lag and a lot more power bn 5.5k-7k with no fall off that makes the car a good bit quicker on track—much more than what the dyno sheets would show. |
