Then, they slap a silly DCT only....even when they admitted that the manual was lighter, they still went ahead. I really hate what they did, that DCT just ruined the whole idea behind the car for me.

They do not own us anything, and they obviously can release a product anyway they wish, but as Die ///M Rakete said, it is just another auto sports car.
Have you even bothered watching a few reviews of the car? Obviously not because most if not all reviewers say it's simply the most enjoyable to drive small light sports car on the market, more so than the 718 Cayman, period.

As for those who do not understand where the front fascia design comes from, that's a lot of ignorance for self-proclaimed purists / driving enthusiasts

This wasn't the result of the aborted collaboration with Caterham but simply a lazy rehash of the Renault Dezir Concept, meant to announce a future Alpine model in a flashy, extrovert, for show only manner, never supposed to prefigure the production A110 and actually quite far from the brand's values.

That's absurd. You've never seen the original A110 from the 60s? Sigh...

That was not a real A110 concept....was just a design exercise.

+1

I think you make the point perfectly. The comparo thread / video on M2C v RS3 v Camaro made a lot more sense to me than this comparo.

And I think BlkSVT is right in that if you're just looking for a toy, then you're gonna consider everything under the sun.

Of the 4 seater "I need to have a practical car but want it to be awesome and fun" cars, M2C struck me as the obvious choice. Now, I'm in the market for a 3rd car (just a toy) and want a mid-engine, 2 seater. So, which is best in that class? Cayman, Alfa 4C, or Alpine?

The original A110 is one of the greatest sports cars ever made so the new A110 has some amazing genetics! More history than any current BMW. The original A110 was the first ever world rally championship winning car...

Gearbox debate aside; Alpine have done a great job resurrecting itself.

The new Alpine A110 is just a great little car! I've driven the Alpine already and it's a blast to drive!

If you can compare it to another car, it would be a Lotus Elise regarding driving dynamics, but you can live with the Alpine on a daily basis. And regarding the DCT, it's the first car I could live without a manual.

"I'm having more fun in this car, on this road, than I would have in any supercar."

"And this thing just feels light and agile on its feet, in a way that, I'm afraid to say, a Cayman 718 does not. And it's all about the kilograms, this thing weighs nearly 300 kilograms less than the Cayman."

The Alpine would look a lot better if the inner-headlights (nostrils?) were covered up.

And it looks fuck-all like the A110 from the 1960s. It does look a lot like that 90s Celica, though. Enjoy the Alpine, and your continued rather transparent trolling

Haha yup, not a ton of similarity there. I'm sure the Alpine drives great but the front end looks too kit car'ish to me. Not sure why they're even comparing it to the M2. The M2 sits four, is practical, has great visibility, can be driven year round no problem AND is great on track/autocross.

It's pretty ugly but I bet the chassis is pretty fun to drive. Also it has a 4 banger from a Renault Clio and is automatic only...pass.

Just can't get over that face of the A110

No 6MT? Pass!!!

I would just go for the Lotus Exige if I wanted an affordable pure sports car.

The Alpine front-end styling does not do it for me, regardless of performance
