With that said, they all hide their heavy-weight very well
BMW actually has employed methods of weight reduction on the M3 and M4, and they did this with the E90 but not the 1M in the past.

( About the only one that they have in the M2 is not including sound deadening. ) some of these methods that are employed on the M3 and M4 are what OP is going to do.

By the way .. removing 50 pounds here and there.. certainly does help when doing so in multiple areas .. right? There really aren't any MAJOR areas to reduce weight aside from composite body panels, removing interior panels, speakers, sound systems, consoles etc..

you are correct about the M2/M3/M4 hiding their weight well.. The first thing that turned me off about the M2 is that it GAINED WEIGHT vs the 1M.

as it is.. The OP is already starting with the heavier DCT anyway.

LOL, loving these responses!

Rear bench seats weighed in around 50 Lbs,

Each front seat, complete was around 52Lbs!

So we are saving around 150lbs on just seating alone.

Hell if it was up to me I'd sit on a milk crate to save some weight

I drove a 1983 Monte Carlo while sitting on a pretzel can one time. Can't say I recommend it. Really hard to focus on your footwork when you're hanging on for dear life

Curious as to whether M2 CP or CS factored into the equation as the baseline platform; or is that too much of an unknown at this time?

His build is going to blow any M2 Competition from BMW out of the water, that's for certain.

yeah...yeah...but even carbon buckets weigh 10-15lbs (with the brackets and what not).

I have the manual seats in my M2 PE and I still think they weigh like 45lbs/ea lol

lol you keep editing after the initial post...

yeah, I agree on both accounts...I guess I just really despise that the entire auto industry continues to get heavier and heavier - especially for high performance cars. And yet, horsepower is the main measure of performance and the only metric people care about (which is why it keeps going up and up and up)....while if you made your car 500 lbs less, it would probably perform just as good with less power and be more fun to drive

doesn't matter. which means that if you fail you can write it all off and start another business.

nowhere near the same as an owner risking his own pride and joy without a safety net.

Not to mention that you can obtain parts at cost.. easier path to sponsorship via purchasing power of the business etc.

once again. not saying that this is not cool.. and not saying to delete anything..
