Unhappy Google maps or Waze on the iDrive screen

I know this maybe it is dumb... but man I got disappointed by the integration with my Android phone (S7 Edge). Basically it's on the same level as my 50$ JVC head unit that I had in Golf mk4 car.
Is there any way of showing Google maps or Waze on the display? Even if I buy an old iPhone that I keep in the console and pay the iOS integration.

You can use Miracast with android to show your phone screen and then use Google/Waze that way.

If you get Apple CarPlay, the only maps that it's displays are the ones from Apple Maps.

No idea, I haven't touched android in years. Hopefully someone who's set-up Miracast can explain.

Also, if you use the search function, I think there were two or three threads on the topic, about how to set it up, which phones work, etc, etc

Miracast screen mirroring shows all display content: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=901

According to their issue tracker, looks like Google will eventually re-enable it for their Pixel. In the meantime, I'm using an old Nexus 5 (wireless charging inside the armrest).

It looks like my car has no wifi. I don't know if I should wonder around the menu somewhere to get it or it simply not there.

It can be enabled with coding on the 2017 per instructions in that thread. Not sure about 2018s.

No. Cast is wireless and only Windows/Android devices with Miracast support.

Works with my Pixel XL. But, you have to disable speedlock.

Thanks for the info. Does it happen by any chance to have a direct link to the post that describes the procedure to enable the wifi so I don't get to search all 44 pages
I just ordered from amazon the wifi dongle to code some things. Thanks again for pointing the thread.

Oh how do you do that? Do you speak "ok google" to your phone to find and address then tell google assistant to send it your phone?
Is there any setup to make that work?

I linked ConnectedDrive info to Google account and just enabled Google Assistant. Then used.

My BMW Routes stopped working in September 2017. After 5 months of going backwards and forwards with BMW about this issue, they say that the BMW Routes feature is moving to the Portal later this year. But in the meantime there is no workaround.

iOS update to BMW Connected app - Google Maps integration?

So when I went to update the BMW Connected app on my iPhone X, I noticed in the 'notes' section it said the app now allows you to "send destinations straight to your BMW from Apple Maps or Google Maps".

I'm on Google Maps all the time, both on my phone and on desktop, and no where can I see any option to send it to my M2. The only way it works is to use the BMW Connected app's nav and send it to the car that way (which works great, but still, it ain't Google Maps).

Anyone else figured this out?

Been doing this for a while, not sure if it's new.

Can't speak to the mobile version of Google Maps, but when I do routes I use the Google Maps browser on my computer and choose the Send to Car option which is oddly located under "Sent to Phone"

So I can now select a location on Google Maps and 'send it to phone' then select my M2, which is great... but when I go to actually set a route on Google Maps (eg. directions) it will still give me the option to 'send to phone' but the car option no longer appears. Have you had this problem?

They just added a Share extension, so now whenever you share a location using the iOS share icon (NOT directions), you can select "BMW Connected" as a destination.
