Fuel consumption.

Quick question: does the fuel consumption change after the 2000kms service?

Well your driving style does that impacts fuel consumption. I've been getting about 200miles/322km per tank.

Sure that's obvious, but did you notice any changes after the first service or is it pretty much the same before and after?

I am sure the fuel mileage and overall performance will improve as the engine loosens up a bit but I doubt they do anything during that first service that would improve MPG

So, about 15 or 16l/100kms (16mpg)? Pretty far from the official fuel consumption figures, which is expectable. I'm going around mostly at low road speeds, varying the engine speed (for the break-in), and doing roughly that as well.

The change in engine and differential oils' viscosity could potentially have some impact.

Holy crap 200 miles a tank is horrible, my E46 ZHP gets 350 and that's only 22 mpg average.

What size is the gas tank?

But getting 15-16l/100km is double what BMW says. The main cause of that has to be aggressive driving style/city driving. I got an average of 11l/100km on my test drive which is similar to what i get with my 911 c2s

getting around 14 L/100, i forgot to mention that this has been mostly stop and go commuting to work so that certainly doesnt help, i think on a long trip with hwy i could get under 11 L/100

I think it should be possible to get close to the advertised figures If you tried, but it's a sporty car so why would you

My friend got an average of 11l/100km on his M2 after some city driving and highway driving on cruise control at 140km/h

Is there a way to get the consumption in the instrument cluster or it is only available via iDrive?

Only have 200+ miles but looks like the frequency that I visit the gas station will be the same for the M2 as it is for the X5.

X5: 14-15 MPG / 22+ gal tank
M2: 17+ (so far) / 13.7 gal tank
