M2 slight steering damage by Dealer

Hi Everyone,

I had to leave my car overnight at the dealer for an alignment. They had some trouble and needed more time to adjust everything within spec.

Today, when I picked up my car I noticed a small tear/nick in the plastic piece under the steering. I found this out after arriving home. Please see picture.

I am sure that I did not do this. It has to be the dealer's mistake and it was not there earlier.

Should I let it go? It's too small to bother with it and the dealer might damage more things while trying to fix it.

What do you guys think?
Maybe this is a good excuse to upgrade to the M Performance steering wheel...

Good sir, life is just too short to deal with these sorts of small annoyances. When I was young and poor, I would spend an hour on the phone on hold, just to argue over a $30 bill. Now, with my impending mortality creeping ever closer, I can't be bothered. I'd rather spend that hour watching an old rerun of Magnum PI on Amazon Prime.

Use it as an excuse to get the M Performance steering wheel. You know you're dying to get it!

I feel like OP is trolling or making some sort of satire.

How the heck would you even see that, why are you even aware of it not being there before. Why are you looking there haha. This so confusing. But congrats, your life is awesome if this is something that would ever cross your radar.

Too bad it isn't on the front half of the trim...that way you could replace it with the MPerf CF trim and call it a day....heck should do that anyways.

I can't see how you could prove the dealer did this or not.

That can be repaired easily btw.

How can this be repaired? It is in the plastic piece.

Dude chill!

I wiped my steering wheel a day before and did not see it there. It has to be the dealer.

I did not go looking for it, it just caught my eye randomly.

How is the alcantara holding up and is the steering more beefy?

Looks amazing in pictures and fits the CF trim pieces inside the car very well too.

Actually, I kept the stock wheel, but replaced the stock trim with the CF trim. I really like how it matches with the rest of the trim pieces in the car.
The big reason why I didn't go with the alcantara wheel is because it doesn't keep the heated steering wheel functionality, not willing to let that go.

Oh yeah, I need the heated wheel too. It looks like I will have to replace both the front and the back trims on my wheel. Front will be CF trim and the back the standard plastic having the damage.

Do you have a picture to share? When you order the trim, does it come with both trim pieces front/back? Thanks again!

Google plastic trim repair. I new a guy back in the day, and he used a filler to fix these.

Just realized I had a pic on my phone. I think your nick is on the backside trim piece. See ETK screenshot vs. front trim from cropped pic on my phone.

Yes it's the back piece. I think it's a separate order and more complicated to replace.

Thanks for sharing pics! I plan to get the CF trim piece, looks great.

I with you OP...I don't go searching for imperfections or damages anymore, but if I happen to notice it, then it bothers me.
