There was no noticeable difference. The E46 CSL is an entirely different story however.
This is a very fair point. It is possible that the driving dynamics of the CS will not exceed the CP by much. However, I am buying due to exclusivity and the fact that it is the most desirable (for me) stock BMW I can buy with a manual transmission. I was disappointed to not have that option with the M4 CS/GTS.

I owned an F80 ZCP and prefer my old E60 as far as ‘big manual BMW’s’ are concerned. More of an event to drive.

The M2 is just the right size and with the manual + exclusivity it becomes a must-add for me. I can see though why someone may not want to drop the $$ to ‘upgrade’ from an M2 CP.
I understand your position. The lack of a manual transmission option negated my desire to upgrade to a CS or GTS.

As far as I know, PASM uses the same technology as BMW's EDC.

MRC has it's pros and cons. We have it on our Audi and it's not perfect.
I think it's similar, in that it uses a valve to control fluid flow, but I don't think they are mechanically the same.

Also with adaptive suspension systems, it's just as much in the algorithm software as the hardware, and Porsche does that a lot better than BMW.

P-Cars are always buttoned down on both compression and rebound strokes.

BMW does compression stroke well, but they do a really poor job on the rebound stroke and that unsettles the chassis.

Been out of pocket for a few days. So I’ve been reading through this thread.

I haven’t decided if I’m going to fill my allocation - my internal limit for this car had been 80k. So if this price is accurate, it presents a bit of a difficult scenario for me. I think the car will be great - but I’m not sure if that’s just too much to pay. Not sure what I will do to be honest....

Drove by the dealer to see HS up close and take some pics. They had an orange one there with a $66k sticker (DCT). Main options minus sunroof. For kicks I added the alcantara steering wheel, carbon lip, hood, and trunk. I couldn't add the 763m wheels. Sticker jumped to 76k. Now consider carbon roof and a few other unique pieces and it's easy to see the CS at $85k. Yes, you can get these parts cheaper for your C, bit I'm talking brand new order from the factory on the car when it's delivered. I'm actually starting to believe the exclusivity cost is only about $3k. I'm still planning to order.

Edit:. This assumes that exec and m drivers packages are included on CS in 83.5k price

If you could swing it, I say put your name in the hat and see how it goes..

Life's too short... Blah, blah, blah..

And beside, this might be the last manual, German-made M2 before they switch over production..

End of an era, grab it before they start a new one..

That's honestly the BIG deal for me.....the last M2 built in Germany! Also, Potentially the last of the smaller sized grills and possibly the last of the manuals!!!

However, I'm still trying to rationalize the price vs other P cars that maybe available at a similar price point.

Serious question...then why not the M2C?

...unless you just really want all the carbon fiber "lipstick." And if you do that's cool. I just personally don't value that stuff.

I really want that front lip on my m2c. That’s about it. Had that hood on my m3 and it was a bit distracting for me.

Are CS specific parts going to be available? We’re they for the f80/82 cs?

Nice to see that over priced M3 CS with a "few carbon bits tacked on and a tune" (sarcasm) at the top of the list. Ive been saying all along... There's a lot more that goes into a CS than meets the eye. Them crazy azz cowboy M division engineers over there have a few tricks up their sleeve. Jus sayin...

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the S55 in the M2C; the M4 motor in a M2 is always a winning combination.

However, if there is a better stock offering, I'm more skewed towards that.

Nothing personal, same as when I wanted a BMW with a B58 motor but the minute they released a TU version in the M340i, I was smitten. Oh, that car is a ton of fun!

BMW keep moving the goal post and I keep chasing..

Negativity towards the new G series shall not exist!

This forum is turning into BMW propaganda if the mods keep acting the way they do.

Dude. They banned me for two weeks and won't "allow"me to post in the G8x forum any longer because of my hatred for that monstrosity of a grille. Removing posts and banning people won't stop anything. All opinions should be heard even the negative ones

Do you realize that the difference in size/length between the M2 CS (4-seater) and 718 Cayman GT4 (2-seater) is only 5mm (0.5cm or 0.2inch) ?

I consider the M2 CS backseats and extended boot space when you fully fold these down (60/40), a practical benefit on a high performance car. Not only to share driving fun with kids, but also to transport stuff to a track or on longer trips.

Length and wheelbase:
  • 981 GT4 = 4438mm (174.72in) | wheelbase: 2474mm (97.40in)
  • 718 GT4 = 4456mm (175.43in) | wheelbase: 2484mm (97.80in)

  • E46 M3 = 4492mm (176.85in) | wheelbase: 2731mm (107.52in)
Brilliant interpretation.

I will not buy a small size ""BMW"" for that money. Not talking about 5 mm or 50 mm size difference here. I would 100% buy a small size cayman, because of my own reasons that none else has to agree. It's our money and to each their own. And it's also our opinions and preferences, there is no right or wrong in absolute sense.

Price and size don't have a correlation of course, we all know.

I (keyword here) personally don't see any value in a $85k 2 series, for same reason as I never understood the craze for an M2. Bmw bloated a perfectly right size E90 platform M3 sedan/coupe to make room for a 2 series and now in 2019 the world is going bonkers with plethora of M cars everywhere in different flavors like your gelato in a shop (ok bad analogy bmw is not Italian lol) .

I can afford the M2CS, but for my money a C8 Corvette with the Z51 package and the MagneRide suspension will be more fun on track. I buy my cars to drive and take them on track. I have a Corvette on order and I was offered a M2CS allocation at MSRP. I passed on the M2CS. But, I will keep my M2C.
With no manual option. If you are looking for a fast car around the green hell, sure. However, what really sets this apart from the 4CS is the manual option. For car enthusiasts, this will be the deciding factor for a future collectable and desirability with 4CS performance in a shorter wheel base. I do think its priced a little too high but not terrible. Considering all of this, it will be a great buy for the future. Just my honest opinion on all of this.
All my BMWs have been manual. The C8 Corvette has a DCT which I will still shift, but I just don't have a clutch pedal. I have had lots of fun with my 6 speed M2C on track. But, on track, DCT is faster.

Yes, if I was to buy a M2CS, it would have been a manual. But, I don't buy my cars to sit as a collectible, I buy them to drive and enjoy.

I should have said refurbishment, not talking about a general resurfacing like with iron rotors. Seen some track cars with CCB getting this service done. A few companies are now offering the service. Process: https://www.rebrake.de/refurbishment/prozess/?lang=en

yes, I know its for racing and automatics are faster
I'm not your typical paid by the hour/minute/second guy... shaving off 2 seconds per lap doesn't do it for me. I can be 3rd place or 24th place and be very ok with shifting gears.
