New to Bimmerpost - Price guesstimate for used M2 early 2019 ?
Hello, everyone. I’m new to this forum. I do not have a BMW just yet. Currently have a lease on my Jeep Wrangler that is ending in May. And I’m already in the market for a 2016/17 BMW M2. What do you guys think the used M2 price would go in early next year? Do you think it is possible to get a DCT M2 for 40k that has roughly 20k miles on the car ? Also, if anyone wants to sell their 16/17 BMW M2 around May/2019. I would be very happy to make deal with you! Feel free to reach out to me! DCT transmission only since I live in NYC. I can do long distance to pick up the car! Cheers!

Probably low 40's should be doable. I see them listed around $45K or so right now around 20K miles, and those are from dealerships. Private party, you can probably get it down to close to 40K.
Or spend a bit more money and get a new 2018 with a nice fat warranty on it |

Welcome. When selecting a used Bmw don't get too hung up on miles, pay closer attention to condition. I drove my E90 3 Series 225,000 miles with few issues. Modern BMW's can go a long time if they are cared for. A low mileage BMW that hasn't been cared for in my mind is not desirable, one with 30k that has been very well cared for would not scare me in the least. I have 34k on mine and it has been flawless and I take it to the track regularly.
When looking for an M2 I think low 40's is where many 16/17 M2's with 20k or so will be. I would stay away from a car with any mods, some are done very well some aren't and you don't want to take on car that will have issues with the warranty. This is a great source for information on BMW's as a community most are supportive and provide accurate information but at times you can get a distorted view on issues. Just remember that people don't start threads when their car is running perfectly which (the vast majority of times they do run great). When I first came here many years ago when I first bought my E90 I read tons of posts about how the water pump was going to fail and I was going to be stranded. I put it in context and used rational thought processes and didn't panic. I ended up finally replacing it at 170,000 miles proactively because I was replacing the AC compressor already. The point is the sky is not falling when a weakness is exposed in these cars so no need to panic when someone posts they had a problem. Best of luck finding a car, it should be pretty easy to find a great one. BMWCCA is a good source for very clean examples. |

I agree completely with the above post. You want an M2 with no mods. The exception is M Performance parts which are really OEM. My car is loaded with M Performance parts most of which were port installed. But my engine and smog system are 100% like they were the day I picked up the car.
The most serious mod in my opinion is a down pipe. It changes the emissions on the vehicle and is technically illegal in most states. It also voids the engine warranty. Good luck on finding an M2. Definitely the most fun car I have ever owned. |

When I was shopping, I found very few used Ms (had to have 6-speed, low miles, blue) and the of the two that I found, one never responded to my query and the other seller took 5 days to respond. By then I had decided on a left-over 2018 with a decent discount.
It's a great car, but I'm not sure that it would be my first choice for year-round driving in NYC.
