Trunk unlatchs accidentally?

Hello this occurred to me a coupe of times -
I walked to the car and started the engine, and then I noticed that the trunk open warning is on.
I checked the trunk it is still flush with other panels but I could lift it without pushing the trunk open button.

Does anyone has similar experience?

This has happened to me several times but I cannot determine what caused it nor could I replicate the sequence. I rarely use the fob so it is not because I hit the wrong button.

Besides, our trunks are either latched or unlatched, there isn't really an in-between state. If the trunk was not fully latched, any bump on the road would have triggered the sensor for alert.

There's a trunk release button to the left of the hood release. Fairly easy to accidentally hit it with a foot when getting in or out.

However, if it's open, I don't think the car will lock like normal. The doors will lock, but it shouldn't beep (because the alarm hasn't armed yet). When you finally latch the trunk, then it beeps.

This week I closed my trunk but the open trunk warning stayed on ( which means no back up camera!) .I checked the trunk several times and it was latched. I finally noticed a small chunk of metal missing from one side of the trunk latch mechanism...taking it in to the dealer next week.

Fob in tight pants? Happened to me a few times years ago.

One neat feature on my wife's XC90 key - buttons are on the side to avoid issues like this.
