12v outlet under dashboard

I’ve got an LCI with Exec Pack, no 12v outlet under the dash. After a bit of research, am I correct that only the 2016 models had the 12v installed from the factory? Has anyone managed to retrofit a 12v in the existing open hole under the dash on a 2017 or 2018? I’d like to buy a dash cam and this location would be perfect for a stealth USB power source.

No. The 2.1 Amp USB outlet by the cupholder was only available on US spec 2017s that had the exec pack:

Unfortunately I have no idea if it's easily retrofittable on '16s or '18s but I do have part numbers and diagrams if that helps at all.

Center console parts:

USB/AUX-IN sockets:

I don't think the OP is talking about USB (which is 5v, not 12v).

Suspect they mean the passenger footwell 12v lighter socket that was not installed on US/Canada cars but may have been an option or standard in ROW.

The same USB socket you pictured is extant on my 2018 car with Exec pack (NAR-Spec)

I have the parts but have not yet dropped the under panel to see if the loom has a plug.

Hey that pic is my car

Ahhhhh that would make much more sense, lol. I was so confused when he said "under the dash" and was talking about a 12v socket but then ended saying he wanted a USB power source. You're right he must mean the 12v socket under the passenger footwell.

Yep, I’m talking about the 12v in the passenger footwell. Anyone buy the parts and successfully install yourself?

Just curious: any rhyme or reason why some cars have it but some don’t?

Neither does mine. I didn't think that any US-spec car had it, but I could be wrong...

Thought this was a Europe-only thing, or maybe Canadians get it too? Just like they get the nice rear center passthrough that we don't...

And yeah, those tubes are for the HVAC.

I wonder if you could buy the lighter socket plug that's in the cup holder area and install it under the dash?

First making sure there's a power source there.

I'm too old to contort myself to see. Maybe we can find a young ambitious person out there that could see??

I looked, I cant see any unused plugs under there, so you would have to run your own power, which should be simple, because there is a fuse box and a firewall grommet less the a foot from that hole. I can also tell that the insert is the same shape as the unit on the side wall of the trunk, so I imagine you could order that part and use it there (the metal sleeve, not the cover). is anyone hip with part numbers, I will order one and test it.

What an odd place for a 12v power outlet. I just peeked under the dash of my 05/17 build car and I have the hole but not the power outlet. I'd have never though to look there.

Seems to be fairly common on German cars, for some reason.

Of course since nobody in the US is expecting it, they "decontent" that option for us to save $3.
