Back on topic I do find it curious that BMW is endorsing Apple phones and yet provides a wireless charger that doesn't work with over 1/3 of new iPhone's sold.

I got rid of mine and added one of these trays. Much nicer now.

I modified mine to fit my S8+. Take a razor and cut out the rubber on the stationary part of the charger, then use a dremel to shape the plastic so the phone doesn't pop out. Easy fix, still looks like OEM and now I can charge my phone.

If you want to simultaneously charge two phones via a USB cable, besides the dedicated USB connector, you can also use the 12V cigarette lighter output.
There are single and double 12 V Cigarette Lighter Plug To USB Adapters, and if you smoke, there are ones that also have CLP(s). |

The thing I think is missing is the warning that the new M5 has about leaving your phone in the wireless charger. I've lost count of the number of times I've done that and had to go back out to my car to get it!

Wow, I could go all kinds of ways in this conversation. First off, I do think it's stupid for BMW to have made the charging dock that size. It wouldn't have taken much to make it larger.
Second, as a phone guy to put it very simply, some of you are basing your opinions on old information. I've had almost every Iphone and a lot of Android phones. IOS is not the operating system it once was when Steve Jobs was alive. In fact Android has caught up and even surpassed it in some ways. I like my Iphone X but my Pixel XL 2 destroys it in a lot of ways. Google has really stepped it up in the software department. My problem with them (Google) is they create something, then abandon it. Wireless charging, NFC (used for mobile payments), notifications, smartwatches, all on Android phones before the Iphone. Having said all that, there are still some Apple products I like, such as the Ipad, and my Imac. Through I still have my home-built Windows and Linux boxes as well. This is funny, I getting into a phone war conversation on a BMW forum. |

Same here! I like to leave hacking and tinkering behind at work and want beautiful design and thoughtfully configured devices in my most personal device.

I was waiting for someone to point this out.
I noticed the wireless charger in the arm rest charged much slower than using a cable connected to the port in from the the gear lever.

this thread is so funny
wireless charging is 5W or 7.5W depending on charger and phone USB charging can provide more up to 12W USB-C 18W or more The USB versions depend on what adapter you buy The more W the faster https://www.macrumors.com/guide/ipho...eeds-compared/

"Those worldwide numbers are not indicative of the typical BMW consumer who is typically of higher income and wealth. Apple owns the high income and wealth demographic as most of the Android base is lower end phones for consumers that aren't necessarily buying BMW's" You insinuated the "smarter and more educated" part on your own to make it come across as being offensive. Given the basic fact that the majority of Android phones (not talking about Galaxy S here) are priced well below iPhone's lowest priced base phone, is it all that surprising then that iPhone's demographic base on average are of higher income bracket than Android's? Even though I am an iPhone user myself, I am glad Android is around bc can you imagine what iPhone prices would be without competition, and vice versa? And before you accuse me of being an iPhone elitist choosing it for its vanity, I own an SE for its size. Android owners probably take pity on me for having such an old, small phone lol

Are Pixel 2 phones appreciably cheaper than iPhones? Samsung flagship phones? (why make an exception for Samsung, or Pixel phones for that matter if not because it defeats the argument that iPhones cost more)? I think they both compete in the same space. Quote:
https://www.metro.us/lifestyle/study...--3GH9ClcVQogd The links prove nothing.. If you googled hard enough youd find a link confirming 'monkeys flew out of his butt'. One is from an apple source, and the rest are 4 years old.. The debate about which phone type is better will go on for as long as they both exist. Calling people names, either explicitly or implicity really doesnt belong in this forum, regardless of the technology type preferred. Any android user would take umbrage at his comments, not just for being inciteful , but for being wrong.

Ha ha dude you really have to give it up. The facts are the facts. The phone wars are over. Nobody cares anymore. Get the phone you like and stop worrying about what other people say. It's pretty clear to anyone objective that I didn't slight anyone as all I discussed was demographics.
