Need a detector for mtn runs
Got popped this weekend rocking the mountains.... time for a detector. Not 100% sure it would have saved me since he was hidden up in a blind corner. He got me dead to rights
What should I get and please don't tell me a V1. The one I had false alarmed non stop in my LCI so I sold it |

If you don't care for GPS / speed trap database then get the Uniden R1.

Get a detector but also use WAZE. I usually get a WAZE warning of police activity several seconds before I get a warning on a detector.

This is like radar + professional waze, and was Alex Roy's most recent radar detector of choice.

If you do a Google search for radar detector test, you’ll find a couple of companies advertising them for $382-$399, instead of the new retail of $429. I know nothing about any of these sites, but at least a couple of them seem reputable.

Basically, Vortex Radar takes the main opinions from rdforum.org (which is full of very knowledgeable people) and kinda distills them all down to more-easily-understandable stuff via his videos. If I were buying a window-mount detector today, it would be a Uniden R3. However, the V1 is just fine... A V1 with the latest traffic filtering update has been working pretty well for me so far. I do have the Laser turned off on it though; I imagine that those of you having falsing were getting it from infrared coming off the touchscreen or the stupid touch-sensitive quick-set buttons by the radio. I'm waiting for the installed system that I want to use to actually exist. Laser on a window-mount detector is generally pointless anyway. Your chances of actually detecting a cop with it are really low. If cops near you use laser, you need a jammer.

Never used Savvy. I have the bluetooth adapter and use an app on my phone - on iphone, "V1Driver". It adds GPS-based lockouts to the V1, and can also "emulate" Savvy by doing speed-based muting too.

The V1 I had constantly was going off due to the new encroachment/collision system on the LCI so I got rid of it. It did me no good going off constantly. Then I get a radar ticket so now I just got a R3. Will see how it works with the LCI
