BMW M2 is better than 1M OVER WHELMING EVIDENCE
I think its so comical, to see how the 1m owners keep trying to prove to them selves that there car is better than the m2. There is so much evidence that your run is over, and has been for a while. I remember with in 10 min of driving the 1m there were problems with the 1m, not being able to put the power down in a sharp turn, wheel base is to short. 1m sometimes not predictable.
So as brought up earlier, if i see a 1m on the road when iam in my m2 i will just laugh under my breath, knowing the m2 is a much better car. |

The reviewer got an hour on the road and half an hour on the track. Just enough for a first impression. Looking forward to M2/M3/M4 comparisons. We'll see if BMW M is heading in the right direction again.

He is rumoured to be reviewing it for the new Top Gear TV programme in the UK, he may be the guest reviewer in the magazine or they may stick to one of their normal journalists.
Expect his review to be somewhat different to the 'launch' review. |

It was admirably executed considering he wasn't at home,up there with what EVO and CAR have written so far and in more detail. Good effort says I. |

BMW's biggest problem is the nomenclature and taxonomy of its models. 1 series is the smallest number and the smallest car. Because of this it is the entry level model and people generally don't understand RWD at this price point, hence selling out and going FWD. The 1er is not small though and is the lowest number unless they wish to venture to a Zero series or some other naming/classification structure we're stuck with bigger and bigger cars. In 20 years time how big will the smallest M car be? It might have been better to stop the odd four door even two door naming and make each series a different size - merge current 1er into 2 series. I hope they think very carefully when they name the i cars |

It's not about the 1M being "better," it's about the car's ability to achieve an emotional connection with the driver. The fact that it can be challenging to drive actually appeals to some. Not everyone wants to be spoon fed. |

Does the M2 use the same turbo as the N55 in 335/135?

Owners will get a thumbs up from me ....! And I expect several back, after all I've helped several people to stay the course so that they actually get an M2 , with this crazy rollout. 1M and M2 owners are much more like brothers than M3/M4 owners as we favor the smaller, more nimble package over the GT car that the M3 and M4 have become |

So the first thing you'll think when you see another M owner is that you're car is better?
I mean, I think the M2 sounds better than the F80/82. I would NEVER bring that up to an M3/4 owner. Like, who cares? F80/82 is better at other things. There's no reason to fight over our cars, they're all beasts in their own right. So when I see a 1M, M3, M4, nothing but thumbs ups, they're all so awesome. Like, dude, in the end, no one cares that you drive an M2 besides you, so it's not worth thinking this way. EDIT: Quoted the wrong person. Classic.

Enjoy your M2, as you should, but to laugh at 1M owners would only exude a lack of class and decorum. We're all car people here, act like it.

The M2, like many other turbo cars, have an overboost function that increase midrange power output for a limited amount of time. So, since it's just a temporary/limited function, it's not stated as the engines std power/torque output. But often quoted as an increased torque level during overboost. The M2 apparently is mapped to allow overboost for maximum 30 seconds at a time. http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...m/engines.html Quote:
One other recent performance car with overboost, the Focus ST which has 15s of overboost (the new Focus RS also has overboost, but now for for 20s segments) https://media.ford.com/content/fordm...bo-engine.html Quote:
