Don't know whether the M2 6MT gear shift knob is illuminated. It's supposed to be the one of the M3/M4 6MT. Too lazy to check. Can someone please "enlighten" me on this one ?

Waiting for the first to shout "Deal breaker !", "I cancel my order" or "No real ///M", of course.
Same here, but no deal breaker for me! Anyways, the cluster will remind us in what gear we are !

Yes, it is illuminated.

But hey, that's pretty fair, isn't it? The 1 M got M mirrors, but not the illuminated knob. The M2 gets an illuminated knob, but not M mirrors.

You look at the diagram on the knob while you're shifting? A good bit of ppl have replaced the stock M3/M4 knob w/ the M Perf once and you lose the illumination. Not that big of a deal just a show thing.

The E36 M3 was the first M car to have an illuminated manual shift knob and all the M cars have had it since then, except the 1M.That is why I am interested in knowing if the M2 shift knob is illuminated. It isn't distracting at all and looks great.

from the manual training document, which everyone should read:

Quote:
The gear shift lever and gear shift fork used in the F87 BMW M2 are identical with the parts from the
F80, F82 and F83 with manual gearbox.

All I have seen were day-light pics. It doesn't help if nearly every M2 is automatic.

Wait a sec. I thought that any M2 driver was, by default, not a man because they didn't get the M3/4? Or, are you just an equal opportunity troll?

M-DCT's have a Park function

M-DCT transmissions do have park. It is not engaged with the shift knob.

From an M2's Owner's Manual (available in the BMW Drivers Guide app)

P is Park

The drive wheels are locked.

P is engaged automatically

· * After the engine is switched off, if the car is in >radio-ready state of if >the ignition is switched off and if position R or D is set.
· * With the ignition is off, if position N is set.

P will then be displayed on the instrument cluster.

I am. But I console myself with the fact that one is what one eats, so I try to hold on to what masculinity I can.

Whoa. Sorry. I was 90% kidding/trolling. The other half was in reference to the M4 Premium thread.

It's cool I actually like the M2 tho FWIW. I may still get one in the future once I can drive it and the M4 ZCP back to back.

They do have a park feature... just no park button. Once the shut off the car, the DCT shifts to park.

So that means M2 owners should be able to spec a manual shift knob like this, correct?
