M4 GTS headed to U.S., M2 CSL to follow suit?

With the M4 GTS now showing up in U.S. dealer ordering systems here, will BMW follow-suit and give us the M2 CSL as well?

I would hope so. I'd take an m2 csl over an m4 gts.

My dealer has taken a deposit and thinks it is coming to the UK for the 100th anniversary of BMW.

I would love to see it here, but something tells me the price is going to be prohibitive. I can see the M4 GTS, as those buyers tend to have more money then those looking at the M2. An M2 CLS would most likely have to be priced somewhere around $80K+ I am guessing and that Cayman GT4 territory.

Agreed on all counts. They're going to be out of my budget anyway, so stripper M2 it is.

I'm still quite surprised about the M4 GTS. I didn't see that coming. That's a good thing though. Now if only they would bring the M135i here...

Same here stripper here I come. LOL, Yeah I was surprised to. I did not think that BMW would bring it here. Although it is nice to see them bringing something like that after us never getting a car like that before.

US availability of the M4 GTS is a very good sign for a potential M2 CSL import. I imagine the decision to bring the GTS here included careful consideration of US pricing for it. Could it be that it was only determined a feasible plan because they intend to offer it at more practical prices than in the past? One can only hope this is the case for the GTS... and the M2 CSL, as well!

I think you're onto something here, I do expect the pricing of the M4 GTS to be more reasonable than the last generation. Perhaps this gen is easier to build through their normal assembly-line than in the past. If there is less one-off work being done then the pricing can fall in line more easily.

I'm also surprised by the M4 GTS offering in the U.S. and you're also right that an M2 CSL at a higher price-point is not really what I'm looking for. M2 (stripper) it is for now and I'll just have to dream about the M2 CSL (and maybe pick up a gently used one in later years). This is also probably what they are saving Donington Grey for, a la the silver gray of the e46 M3 CSL (see below).

This thread is way too early.

I doubt most forum members will believe that an M2 gts would be created and certainly any US members would have huge doubts.

An M2 GTS Will sell here but American bimmer fans have been conditioned to the fact that we don't get the top models.

I'm pretty sure most of us are in shock still that an M4 GTS will be coming.

As far as an M2 GTS, I would love it. I would definitely be interested, particularly if it is.

Limited production
Has water injection
Wilder styling
CF roof
Even less weight than m2

Since we don't even have an M2 curb weight,,,, not gonna get too excited yet b

If they did something truly wild... like dump a stroked S65 in it- I'd be willing to fork over 6 figures.

Besides the dynamism of the motor- surely it's lighter (without all the plumbing), lower (V) and closer to the firewall (4cyl depth vs. 6)?

Sorry to bring this to you; but, the head of M division said there will never be a V8 in an M car again. Cafe standards, environmental concerns and that sort of (excuse the expression) malarkey.

I call BS on that all day long. Unless he meant there will not be a V8 in smaller car like an M2 and M3/4.

How much do we want to bet that the next M5 will be at least a V8 again?

Wasn't there a rumor about the next M5 going back to V10?

Wow, UK dealer taken an M2 CSL deposit? Was it yours or just your dealer commented?

Cool.

I have given a letter of intent to purchase plus deposit. Same process as Porsche use for their GT cars. Been with this dealer for 25 years. Let's hope BMW builds it! I am thinking launch mid/late 2016 for 100th anniversary.

BMW has plans to further venture into ///M CSL Street (again).

But in official press release we advise of three specific power outputs of this new performance drivetrain being developed at BMW.
The power under the CSL generates 560 PS. But this one is particularly special it is further tweaked by the M Division to suit the character of a BMW M car.
And what I am hearing it seems that there is a motion to use the CSL badge for more progressive and innovative M models and to make CSL models the test bed for exclusive performance and progressive innovation and that includes eDrive assisted drivetrains.
In a way it has come full circle on how Motorsport innovation was showcased with the original CSL.
The next variant of Power eDrive has not been shown but it is the "entry" if you want to call it that with about 460 PS which will launch in the next generation 5er and then be included in models from the 5er upwards.
The first BMW M eDrive car is not as far away as you may think.

A eDrive M car....? I would hope they would at least start higher up in the BMW lineup, perhaps with an i8M, M6e or X5Me (lol).

Oh how I hope the M2 CSL would be offered stateside!! I would much prefer that over the M4 GTS. 1M character with some CSL Hommage styling and Z4 GT3 performance isn't too much to ask for is it?

Would Scott26 mind giving me an incentive to save my pennies?

Oh, I wouldn't put much weight on what the head of any automotive division says. It's a business like any other and they will do whatever is in their best interest at any given time.

Remember what BMW used to say about FWD ?
