Instruments & armrest removal

Hey guys, I notice some of you have the digital read outs for the air-conditioning in white, but mine are orange. Mine was a July build. Just curious as to why this is or if there is a setting that changes it?

Also, does anyone know how to remove the armrest? It's so annoying having it down as I can't shift properly and I really have no use for it as I leave it up all the time. My girlfriend has a 228 with no armrest which is what I want!

the display is orange at night when you have your low beam lights on, and white during the day.

Ah makes sense - haven't even driven the car yet during the day! Thanks

Next you will be removing the CUP HOLDERS....isn't anything sacred any more???

JK....

Might look odd without the rest covering the cubby under it....once you remove the rest..maybe you can fit something inside that covers the opening and looks nice still but is lower for shifting????

Question was answered above.

Also, regarding the 'waterfall ambient lighting' radiating from the M2 roof near the rear view mirror: in the iDrive settings you can set the radiated color to either "Classic" (amber/orange) or "Sport" (white).

Apparently my girlfriend's 228 doesn't have an armrest, just exposed storage. That's what I want!

I understand, was just joking LOL.....My 97 M3 and my 94 325is had a 5 speed and arm rests. I don't recall there being an clearance issue shifting.

You should have no problem getting the info from the dealer on the removal process. I have asked them to print a few pages for various service things I did over the years. Just ask! Or pick up a Bentley Manual on the 2 series...

Mike

(The Bentley Manual is a worthwhile investment, I am waiting on a M2 Bentley Manual once they publish one LOL, may be in a couple years?)

I can't tell on mobile - what market is this? I thought US/NA market cars didn't have the rear armrest. Was I wrong?

I think the rear armrest is only in the 40/20/40 cars.

Edit. He's talking about the center console?

Yep centre console. This bugged me in my 125i as well. I always leave it up because I find it much easier to shit.

I also have long arms? :P

The dealer will probably say that they have to do it knowing them. I've google everywhere and I thought I would have come across something.

Bentley manual would be good.
