Anyone on a Z06 waitlist?

Planning the next purchase. I'm thinking a convertible Z06 is different enough from the CS to be a fun addition. I'd expect a 2025 or 2026 allocation at this point if getting on a list now. Hopefully ADM dies off after a few years.

It's of zero interest to me without a stickshift.

I'm more excited for the crate engine which will make a great option for an Ultima build. Ultima RS with the LT6 could be a godly combo. Hopefully the crate LT6 doesn't creep much past the $20k mark which historically has been the pricing for the LS7, etc.

Flat plane crank v8 with 12.5:1 compression and peak horsepower at 8400 rpm? I want it for the sound alone!

I'll wait until the second or third year of production to make sure they aren't blowing up. I may even pay the $5000 fee to assemble the motor myself.

I want one, but I'm not in a hurry. I plan to get one near the end of its lifecycle when it'll have the most refinements (and aftermarket support) and hopefully no long waiting list and ADM.

No offence but it's just a totally crass vehicle.

So many other great choices. My recommendation is something with much less power than the CS, much older that feels like you are going really fast when you aren't. There are tons of great choices for this genre and this sort of thing would perfectly complement your CS. Pay a bit more for a great example. You will be over the moon.

I wouldn't consider the Z06 crass at all. The engineering that went into it is pretty amazing and I have no doubts the overall driving experience will be very good.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. The average person(even some M2C owners) would consider the CS a "crass" vehicle.

My uncle has had a deposit on the Z06 for a while now. He and I did the C8 racing school last year. The C8 is very impressive on the track in stock form. Only issue was that it doesn't pull quite as hard after 110mph or so on the straights.

I liked Corvettes when I was a kid, until I realized how much better 911s and even M3s were. The C8 is the first iteration that is as capable as a 911 and the fit and finish is now near that of its German competition.

I still wouldn't get a standard C8, but the Z06 seems to have the right recipe.

I get Davil's point about having more fun in slower cars, especially on the street. However, for the price, the Z06 will be a super car killer with an amazing sound. I don't have the discretionary income to pick up a Z06 in addition to the CS, so I'd still keep the CS.

Issue with the C8 is the same as any modern supercar it's copying. Which is both praise and criticism. The praise is that this Z06 is going to equal anything up to around $500k. The criticism is that modern supercars are soul less. I don't quite get the draw, personally. At the very least this will hopefully be a bit more exciting in the handling department compared to the C8, which I wasn't impressed with given the additional lack of a manual.

Of course, for the price and limited availability of a Z06, i'm willing to bet you could build an Ultima with the LT6 crate for about the same cost, which is a way more exciting car. That or any factory five with a crate Voodoo engine for substantially less. As time moves on I think more and more folks are going to go the kit car route.

Anyways, i'll at least thank the Z06 for the new engine. Can't wait for wrecked Z06's to pull this thing out of.

https://www.enginelabs.com/news/gm-a...t-plane-crank/

That's the type of engine BMW should be building, and Ferrari should still be building..

+1

I've driven a friend's C8 on several occasions and it is an amazing platform. The Z06 is definitely a car I intend to buy and keep hopefully forever like my M2 CS. Need more garage space before I can add more cars though.

#4 on a big dealer list so hopefully I'll get one in the first allocation group.

also have a Wrangler 392 XR coming next month, a 22 ZL1 1LE coming in March so I can crass it up until my 911 Turbo S comes in next August then I will just be crass sometimes.

so much more to life than worrying about what people think about you. trust me, they are thinking about themselves. like, "do I seem crass in this car?" no buddy, but it does make your butt look big.

I got to drive the C8 and it's an amazing package for the $$$. My friend had one of the first ones delivered which he ordered a long time ago, and when he went to pick it up the dealer tried the ADM BS, but he got it at MSRP after all. The Z06 will be epic.

I am on the GT3 list, but still have quite some time to wait for it, and I will keep the CS and e92 M3 regardless, so I don't care about the wait. All different types of cars and driving experiences. And I agree, don't care what others think but enjoy the camaraderie with my car buddies who are as crazy about cars…..

Agreed. A 55 year old man with a toupee and skinny jeans is entitled to do his own thing and be happy if he feels good about it.

Doesn't change the fact the C8 is a very ugly car though. Like it was drawn by an 8 year old asked to design a supercar. No cohesion.

Now this on the other hand. That's just beautiful. So I'm not having a go at American cars in case that's what you think.

That pic triggers my brain, lol, as my father bought a 1965 Nassau Blue vette back in 1965, and I have tons of memories of that car. He and his brothers were all car nuts having come of age in the 40s. I don't think many today appreciate how very rare it was to see a Corvette on the street in 1965. That would change a good bit over the following 10 years with the C3. I do remember coming back to the car at times and finding a group of people surrounding it. I guess here almost 60 years later that happens again now with a nice 1965 C2! Like many vettes back then, his car was stolen in 1968.

Wow. That would have been amazing. Except for the stolen bit.

That car was a work of art. My son has a 1/18 scale model in his room.

Down here I do see quite a few old Corvettes, Mustangs and 60s Americana driving around. It's great. There is a strong sub culture that loves American cars. In fact the Mustang is the best selling "sports car" in the country. They are everywhere.

The latest thing down here is buying old classic Australian muscle cars. They are going for up to $1m. We are the only two countries with a culture of muscle cars, pickup trucks (utes) enormous open spaces, cowboys and long road trips that take days.

But, oddly, also a strong love of BMWs. I appreciate all cars. I just don't like the new Corvette. Very contrived and not true to its roots. Boo.

I think American muscle cars from the 60s are some of the coolest looking cars. However, most of them drive like crap unless loud burnouts is your thing. I recently drove a 67 Vette with a 427 and I was shocked at how bad it was.

I think the C8 is a great looking car. I don't like that they don't over a manual transmission these days, but I understand it.

Looks are subjective as any G8X owner will tell you.

In the process of trying to get on an MSRP list. The Z06 fixed some of the proportions that I had an issue with. We will likely order a convertible Z07. Unless they split up the package to a la carte components in later years. It won't see any track time. I just like the way the package looks.

Nice. Getting these cars early gives you the chance to drive for free if it turns out you don't like it. I now regret not getting in early on the c8 and the c8z. The good news is that the z will likely time well with paying off the CS.

I've owned some muscle cars. Never a Corvette. They weren't that rare to see in the mid 60's but they were cool to spot! You had to be ready to eat their dust.

Muscle cars from that era were all go go go and not a lot of stopping or cornering. Fun for red light challenges and top speed thrills. I love most of them but have moved on. Zero practicality and glug glug glug.

Not that a modern 911 Turbo or Z06 are practical, but at least you can jump in one and drive from here to wherever in safety and comfort for the day.

I was recently away for a while and when I returned, I made it a point to drive each one of my cars so that they all got exercised. Each were fun, but the lowest horsepower, fuel injected 2002 tii put the biggest smile on my face.

Here you go.

I'd pick either of these over that monstrosity. Hard to put into words how good the the old GT350 sounds. That is a symphony.

But my favourite Ford of all time will always be this. I can't decide between classic cobra livery and Mad Max black though.

I had a GT350R before I got my M2CS. The Shelby was an incredible car to drive/own the sound and the handling made it a great drivers car. I'm actually surprised that the GT350R never really got compared to the M2CS because IMO it's a direct competitor. But for whatever reason the CS got compared to the 718 GT4.

As good as the GT350 is, the C8 Z06 will be on another level.

The old GT350 is my favorite one of old. I'd love to own one in almost any condition.
Still, it doesn't handle worth a shit.
