It's a delicate balance with a CS as a daily driver. I wouldn't mind a little more sound, but I also don't want a burbling, crackling monster exhaust.

Why is it that nobody is doing a downpjpe on this car? CEL, warranty, emissions? My state doesn't check emissions, and I had a catless downpipe on both of my 135is and it made a huge difference in sound and added HP. The first one did make a pretty noticeable petrol type smell from the exhaust, but my N54 with Dinan exhaust didn't have that. Not saying I need one, but just seems everyone is doing cat back or axle back.

I think my car must be different. It's a bit louder and deeper compared to my M2C. Aside the infantile fireworks which I hated. I just like that it sounds like a BMW. Finally. After so many years. I am very happy as I have loved the sound of BMW sixes since my first experience 35 years ago in a 323i. I couldn't think of anything worse than it sounding like a Lambo because it isn't a Lambo. If I wanted a car that sounded like a Lambo then the obvious choice is to buy a Lambo. Not for me.

I was actually wondering the same thing about a DP. I had a Fabspeed sport-cat DP on my OG M2 and loved the sound of the car. Drove it for over 3 years with no check engine light and got the car inspected twice with no issues.

Hi guys! I too am in that same boat. Took delivery of my M2 CS and realized its a bit too quiet for my taste. Debating between the MPE or the Eisenmann performance (resonated version). Anyone have any recommendations? Not looking to spend $6k+ on anything. Definitely open to suggestions though.
thanks!

Since the ECU tune from the factory is very good (amount of power and the way it's delivered), I personally don't want to deal with getting an ECU tune that probably isn't going to make the car better and could cause warranty issues. I like the smooth build of power compared to ECU tunes that bring on the torque too quickly and just blow the tires off all the time or activates the traction control all the time.

I have the Eisenmann Sport on and it is a good volume with the valves closed and fairly loud with them open. I also have the unresonated midpipe with it, but I think that if you kept the stock resonator and secondary cats it would be perfect(i just don't want to cut the exhaust). In sport plus it makes some burbles with this setup.

Completely agree. This car's sounds reminds me of my 330i E46. Metallic thrumming engine note is the main game - not a compensating exhaust. Particularly as you approach redline.

The open hood vent into the engine bay that directs both evacuated air and decibels back at the driver possibly allows more engine sound out. The lack of active sound augmentation completes the story.

The CS has active sound augmentation. I'm not sure where the idea that it does not comes from. Bimmercode can code it off, but it's irreversible, so you have to reflash to get it back. I don't like that idea. I just ordered a bypass harness that will block it from the amp without introducing any interference.

I'm amazed at the hate over a more aggressive tone with this car. Yes, I know you probably have to be fully grown to own one, I just thought since it was a more aggressive car in general, and has more power, than most guys would want a more aggressive exhaust. But I guess I got that wrong, and it appears that BMW knew it, which is why the CS has such a benign sound.

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't mind more sound but the more sound has to have the right harmonics and character across a variety of throttle inputs to be cool sounding. A loud car with the wrong harmonics and character sounds annoying and stupid in my opinion, and it's more difficult to avoid nasty harmonics with turbos vs. normally aspirated.

For those considering an Akra exhaust, I can report that the exhaust fits in the trunk when taken out of the box. Makes logistics of getting to a shop easier as you can leave the box at home.

Good question. I will start with just a slip on so don't have a midpipe to test. Maybe someone who installed one could comment. I think it may

My daughter and I used think it was fun to nail the throttle under bridge overpasses in the ftype svr. It was crazy loud. The CS was weaksauce. On the flip side the svr exhaust got a little old after a while. Mainly because the pops and bangs sounded programmed. The sound from full throttle never got old. I understand the desire for a louder exhaust. Especially it it doesn't come with unwanted drone.

It does. With the front seat down I was able to get both in.

@bokke did you get the sound kit with your Akra?
If so, what did you think?

Also, has anyone installed the Akra (diff back) without the sound kit? Is it needed?
Do the valves open in Sport+?
