I paid just over $60 for my 21' M2C and traded it with 250 miles for $60.

Just out of curiosity, I filled out a couple online appraisals, Carvana and Vroom. My 19 M2C has exec, 6 speed, no sunroof, 53xx miles. $54k Vroom, $53.5k Carvana.

Sheesh, prices remain high.
Edit: Just looked at my post from when I started this thread. The trade in value on the same miles was $4K lower then, meaning the value of the car went up even further.

Prices for OG and Comps are still going up and with no end in sight. Been looking for an 18-6speed, but the market seems to high right now. After a few months of "just looking" I wondering if i should bite the bullet now or just wait for the market to normalize. Any thought?

I think its entirely up to your finances for the most part. We all don't know what's goin to happen with the COVID market and/or COVID for that matter. My opinion is if you have the money, no need to delay the fun. Cars are largely toys and depreciating assets most of the time, just go out and get the best bang for you buck and enjoy.

My justification for jumping into this nutso car market was that its all relative if you have another car to sell. For example, I had a paid off 2017 Mazda 3 that I paid about 18500 for. Because of the used car market, I traded it in to BMW for $15100. That car only cost me about $3K to own over the 4 years I've owned it (not including gas etc). So it made paying slightly extra for the 2021 M2C a no brainer for me. Made it totally justifiable.

The big Wall Street firms are predicting the auto shortage to continue for 12-24 months due to chip shortages. If you want to wait it out you may have luck getting it cheaper. Then again the “transitory” inflation may not be so transitory.

How’s that for talking out both sides?!!

Man I was just looking at CarGuru's and most used 2020 and 2021 M2C's are going for around $70K. Crazy!

This car is the modern E46 M3. It will likely retain value forever. The new 2 looks bloaty and hi-tech, probably will loose it's character but let's see.

Everyone here should be happy to see the prices remain high. Those looking will have to justify the extra cost simply because these cars might just be the last of their kind.

I remember some guys saying they got closer to 9-10% off MSRP and I thought I felt suckered but... then I looked more closely and realized these cars are insanely rare with the dealer that I bought mine from (a very very large one) only got 3 in Hockenheim. At this time, the used 2019s with 10k miles were selling for 52-53k... i said to myself, no way am I buying used if I can buy new for 60...

... well this was before Covid ...

I paid MSRP personally, but can't complain. I imagine I can drive the car around for a year and probably sell it close to sticker if I wanted to part ways with it.

Same here, paid MSRP in 2018 for a new one. I was on a guest list of 15+ people waiting in line to get one.

Same, MSRP here…but I couldn’t be happier. Plus, the dealership experience was so great…I would almost take this situation vs getting a couple of thousand off and spending the worst few hours of my life at a bad dealership.

You're right the market does even these things out especially if you have a desirable trade-in. Now the hard is deciding between an OG and a Comp.

I got $500 off in April of 2019 for my 2020 M2C (one of the first 2020s stateside). To think that I could drive a car for 2 and a half years and then sell it for the price that I paid for is freaking crazy.

Yeah, I was one of those 10%ers in December of 2019 for a 2020 M2C. I really don't care about this market because there's no way i'm selling my comp
