Got a track day in yesterday
In my province we are now allowed to meet in groups up to 30 so that's what we did. Had a great last stint when I went out first so I had the track to myself until I started lapping people

Here you go. I normally arrive and drive, but when I go out of state, I tend to haul the track tires in the back seat. This is 4x 265/35/r18. There’s some room to spare, so 265/285 would probably fit as well. Any wider is probably cutting it close.

Just put the seats down and the tires line up 4 across without limiting seating space (I’m 6’2" and run the seat fairly far back on the street).

Rearward visibility is near on-existent, so I’ve since removed the back seat.

Anyone know of event starting back up in the midwest? Illinois is still locked down but I'm trying to sneak into Michicagn or Wisconsin for some track time.
I used to extensively track my old R6 years ago. Got out of it because I moved to Europe to get an MBA. But never got back into it after because on one of my last track days before the move, the helicopter had to come multiple times to pic up severely injured riders.

Having said that, tracking a car does not compare to tracking a bike. The FZ09 is track capable, despite the soft suspension. And I definitely have a temptation to take out my old leathers.

Not to mention my beloved M2 feels underwhelming relative to the FZ09.

I have put 275/35 18 NT01s and RE71s like this with no problem. Except I don't even put the seat down cause I'm short and don't require that much leg roo.

Also a concern.

Since I don’t do this often, I improvised how to hold the wheels in place for the trip. The single ratchet strap didn’t do the job. Some sort of net with tie downs would be far better.

Anyone have a good solution?

COTA is starting to open up. We have a private day on June 6th and it has been confirmed good to go. There is an HPDE a couple of weekends later that has been confirmed as well.

WRL @ Daytona 6/13 still on as well

I almost always drive on my streets to the track and carry my 18 track wheels in the back. I removed the back seat so I have plenty of room in back and I can see perfectly out of the rear. One tip...I line up 3 wheels in the back seat with racket strap attached to anchors and fourth wheel flat in the trunk. This allows both front seats to slide back all the way and seems to allow more packing space....also puts less load on the ratchet straps. Just noticed the picture...that is dangerous....straps should pass through the center of each wheel and anchor rearward on each side.

Ratchet strap placement- yep, poor choice. Through the wheels would be a bit awkward to route, but far safer. This photo was from the first time I loaded them up and clearly it wasn’t fully thought through.

The trunk is usually full for out of town trips- tools, jack, jack stands, awning, suitcase, cooler... My gf is usually with me in her cayman, so I get to carry all the stuff to set up camp in the paddock. So the fact that all 4 will fit in the back seat was a big win. Everything packages better for me that way than 3+1.

Tip...get retractable ratchets....easy to thread through the wheel center.

Love that track...it’s a haul from ATL but the M2 is the perfect fit for Sebring.

Awesome! I'll be there at end of June. I've been watching YT vids of Jim Pace in an old manual Porsche to learn the line. Definitely looking forward to it.

If it helps, I can email you some of my BMW Laptimer files to download...i instruct with Chin at Sebring so the data might help after you get familiar with the track.i am always shocked at how fast the M2 is through Bishops Bend.

The line/braking zone just before Turn 13 and pretty much all of Turn 17 are giving me the most trouble

If you have any tips you can share please let me know

Yes and no

I think it depends a lot on what you're used to as well as your suspension setup

Sebring is considered by many to be the best road course in the state while others argue that it can take too much of a toll on you and your vehicle

In any case, you definitely need to familiarize yourself with some of the bumpy sections

A classic example being the braking zone coming into Turn 7

I just got an email from RSR that starting soon Spa and Nurbergring are a go again. The first days they have posted are towards the end of June. I'm signed up for July 3rd and 20th on the Nordschleife.

Finally! It looks like this season will start.

Hopefully this terrible thread can come to a close soon!

For turn 13 try to get all the way track left after 12 and brake late, go for slightly late apex, take a bit of the curb at apex and let it track out all the way left. Since you are coming quickly from right to left there is a very short window when your wheel is straight enough to hard brake...it may even feel like you are aiming at your turn in point at a slight angle when braking. Some people seem to come out of 12 too fast and too far right to get back to track left before 13, so they end up being track center, pinch it and loose the momentum all the way through Bishops.
