BBS FI-R with 255/35 or 265/30 front tires to avoid rubbing with coilovers
Hi there,
I am in the process of getting BBS FI-R wheels for my M2 LCI. Front BBS FIR 137 - 19 x 9.5 ET22 5x120 PCD Rear BBS FIR 138 - 19 x 10.5 ET35 5x120 PCD I will also get KW Clubsport 3 way coilovers. I am not into lowering the car to the max. I want to keep it at a height where there will no be rubbing and driveable through bumps and ramps at the entrance of my garage. I have read many messages about rubbing due to the width and ET of BBS wheels. I have checked size comparison websites for wheels and tirerack specs for tread widths of different tires. With so many messages and data I am confused. I would be glad if anyone can help with their experiences. I do not want semislick tires. I will get another tire/wheel set for trackdays. I am thinking about below configurations: 1) Front: MICHELIN 255/35R19 PILOT SPORT 4S Rear: MICHELIN 275/35R19 PILOT SPORT 4S 2) Front: CONTINENTAL 255/35R19 CSC6 (because less treadwidth than PS4S) Rear: CONTINENTAL 275/35R19 CSC6 3) Front: MICHELIN 265/30R19 PILOT SPORT 4S Rear: MICHELIN 285/30R19 PILOT SPORT 4S Which option do you think is best to have good driving dynamics without any rubbing / fitment issues? Your best option is to stick with the stock sizes.
I have no idea why people are so opposed to 245/35 & 265/35, but they're the best fit for the car. And yes, even with wheels that are 12mm wider, it's an insignificant change. Stock sizes, PS4S, win. |

Stock tires are already stretched a bit with stock wheels. |

½" = 12.7mm It's nothing. The stock tires are only SLIGHTLY stretched, they LOOK more stretched than they are because of the rim protector bead design. Yes, the 245/35 and 265/35 are still the best choices for no rubbing with FI-R offsets. |

I disagree. I am running 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 on stock wheels. I definitely would run that size on wider FIRs. It also helps to correct the speedometer under reporting the correct speed.
And yes I have tracked my M2 with the PS4Ss with great grip and zero problems. |

currently running 255/35/19 Conti's extreme contact and the front is rubbing on stock suspension on full steering lock and 270 degree rotation. also going side to side aggressively on my m2cs.
so you are all saying that even if j downsize to 245 and lower, it will still rub? I am not opposed to pushing in the fender liner at the front a tad bit to fix the rub.

What is better to use in respect to BBS FIR's awkward offset and ET values for M2 to avoid rubbing.
245 35 19 front & 265 35 19 rear stock sizes or 255 30 19 front & 275 30 19 rear PS4S/CSC6 sizes? |

Hope this helps.
Keep in mind that the specs the tire manufacturers post are based off the "Measured Rim Width" that the tires were mounted on. However, a difference in .5" of 'Rim Width' is probably not going to change the Section Width, Tread Width etc. that much. |
