I don't know what kind of plug he used but it was a wireless adapter that plugs into the OBD port.

My SA has the app and adaptor which he uses on his own car. He offed to code mine when I picked it up free of charge. Solid guy.

You’ve got a cool SA. Not many will do coding, let alone even know anything about it.

Bimmercode Settings

So today I logged in and coded a few things. Car is a manual Pre LCI facelift. Just wondered what cool things people have done or any questions people may have that could be answered here. I would like to have indicator lights on all the time but can't figure out how for example. All comments and helpful suggestions welcome. Cheers fellow Code lovers

Did you ever end up fixing it? How did you get it back on? I have same problem.

I had gotten a software update from the dealer, and that restored everything. This is why I am going with the ASD bypass cable this time.

I have the same problem. I just connected Bimmercode and did not even make any change to the coding. I can't download map updates.

Any solution to restore NAV? Thanks.

Good question. Came here to find same thing. Just got my M2 a few days ago and want to code a few things but don't want to start if not supported yet. Does anyone know yet? thanks.
My SA used Bimmercode on my M2C when I picked it up from the dealership. Worked like a charm.

Hi all - Random question: Do you keep your OBD device plugged in 24/7 or only when doing some changes? It sounds like there is a potential to drain the battery but it would also be nice to have plugged in for quick changes with the exhaust or ASD, etc.

Mine is always plugged. Never had an issue. I have to remember to pull it out before dealer services.

And which OBD do you use? How often do you drive? I'll probably only drive my car a few times a month wondering if that would drain the battery or if I'd be good.

It does not have to be plugged in 24/7. After the codes have been flashed you can safely unplug it until the next time you wish to make changes.

But if you want to use it permanently with an app like Bimmerlink?

Hopefully this has not been asked before, but can it reduce the time to power all off? Have an 18 M2 and after installing a mirrortap into the rain sensor power, after closing the door, it can take up to 14 minutes to power down?

I grabbed power from the auto dimmer in the rear view and it goes off right after you shut off the motor. Might want to change the wire you're tapping to do the same...

You don't need to run the app permanently. You only use the app while you are coding. After the new codes are flashed you close the app and unplug the adapter from the OBD port.

Not sure which connector is the auto dimmer but I assume it is the larger one. I did tap into first but was getting intermittent power, so then went to the smaller rain sensor one.

Intermittent? Maybe you needed to use a bigger blade from the mirror tap kit? Sounds more like a connection problem than a source problem. I kept upping blade sizes until they wouldn't fit, then went back down 1 size and lodged it firmly into the molex.

Ya I dont know why it happened, I have used mirrortaps before in other cars, with no issues and the one I purchased was direct from their website for this specific car. I thought maybe when I pulled the large connector out I may have possibly disconnected it when putting it back but both clicked in properly so not really sure...

I used the mirrortap kit that comes with 4 pairs of different sized blades - is that what you have as well?

Yes I had the existing one with the 4 pairs, and because I didn't want to do it again, I also purchased the exact one also..

Hey guys maybe a simple answer since this is all new to me but I plugged in the Veepak OBD BlueTooth (BimmerCode now recommends Bluetooth? Unless I'm reading their recommended OBDs thing wrong) and when I plugged it in and turn on Bimmerlink on my iPad (and then later on my iphone--both in airplane mode) it said to connect to the OBD's Wifi network and when I would try to do that I would get error messages on my iPad or phone.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong. I'm sure it's something super simple...
