M2 CS at 2020 Brussels Auto show (Misano Blue Metallic - black wheels - red calipers)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Few pics of the car on display in Brussels. Nothing really new, just confirm that (at least here) the climate control unit is similar to the M4 cs and that the rear seats can be folded...Also M2CS is apparently not yet sold out (Belux market), 4 months after the preview in Brussels.

EDIT by Artemis: the M2 CS on display at the 2020 Brussels Auto Show appears not to feature the OEM M2 CS wheels. It features a set of 'Black Matt' 19" 763M M2 M Performance Parts wheels (with ///M Performance Parts logo embossed near the valve stems), rather than the OEM 19" 763M 'Jet Black' or 'Gold Matt' M2 CS wheels which do not feature the ///M Performance Parts logo embossed.

It is the same car of the September 2019 M2 CS preview in Brussels (except for the removed OEM 19" 763M M2 CS 'Gold Matt' wheels).

Looks better with the black wheels. Stance is gross...looks like a 4x4. I hope that is still on the shipping blocks

Strange the car is wearing the MPerformance Matt black 763s and not the rightful M2CS gloss black 763s without the MPerformance stamping.

I had noticed the same.

As pointed out in the past, the 19" (F) + 20" (R) 763M wheels on the M3 CS and M4 CS don't feature the ///M Performance Parts logo embossed and got an 'Orbit Grey' finish. We knew that the M2 CS is made available with the 19" (F+R) 763M wheels in 'Jet Black' or 'Gold Matt' finish and equally without the MPP logo embossed.

The M2 CS on display at the Brussels Auto Show appears to feature a set of 'Black Matt' M2 MPP wheels with MPP logo embossed near the valve stems, rather than the (glossy) 'Jet Black' M2 CS wheels without MPP logo embossed. So, technically, the car on display in Brussels as we speak, is an M2 CS without the OEM M2 CS wheels. Weird.

A few weeks ago I heard through the grapevine the figure of 90 out of 131 sold. And probably a part of it consists of cars ordered by BMW M dealers without orders signed by customers.

So whoever lusts after an M2 CS and is willing to shell out the cash: over here no 'waiting list', no 'dealer mark up' and as demand is low, for sure you can negotiate a discount.

Imagine for a moment how M2 CS sales would have fared here with the same price-point but without the "limited edition" marketing trap. No bueno.

Definitely sounds like this is why they couldn't be sure how many were going to come to the US. US gets all the remaining build slots that aren't spoken for. I do hope they only build enough for those that want them.

Exactly my thoughts on it!

USA is the worldwide catch all for leftover allocations.

So, I wonder if that means we get more than we are expecting from an allocation perspective?

Maybe 500+

Interesting/good to see for me that the rear seat headrest is not integrated into the seat back like in the M4CS. I plan to put the kid seats in the back sometimes (my daughter loves going to car shows, and loves a loud exhaust), so that will be cleaner with the car seat tether. Hope that seat configuration is the same for the US.

The reality is that the m4cs pricing fiasco devalues the brand. You never want to be forced to discount premier product to move. They would be much better served to only build as many as are spoken for up to capacity limit.

Unlike the M3 CS and M4 CS, the M2 CS gets indeed the foldable headrests worldwide.

So, apart from the red color stitching (instead of blue or orange) and "CS" logo embossed (instead of "///M" logo), M2 CS rear seats are similar to those of the M2 Competition (no upgrade compared to the M3 CS and M4 CS). M2 CS rear seats are only foldable 60/40. The M2 Competition features standard 60/40 foldable rear seats and optional 40/20/40 foldable rear seats with armrest (including cupholders) & load-through (at least the EURO-spec cars).

Don't know, but we do know that M2 CS EUR-spec production is scheduled for March (SOP) till September 2020 (EOP), while the M2 CS US-spec production is scheduled till December 2020 (EOP).

EOP for the M4 CS: February 2020.

  • 1M: 2700 scheduled - 6309 built - out of production (see here);
  • M4 GTS ("limited edition"): 700 scheduled - 803 built - out of production (see here);
  • M4 DTM ("limited edition"): 200 scheduled - 200 built - out of production (see here);
  • M4 CS: 3000 scheduled - 2043 built (June 2019 figure) - produced until Feb 2020 (see here);
  • M3 CS: 1200 scheduled - 1263 built - out of production (see here);
  • M2 CS ("limited edition"): 2200 scheduled - production from March 2020 until Dec 2020 (see here).

When I ordered my CS in November in Luxemburg, there were 6 M2CS left. Proably 90 orders signed by customes and 41 orders by BMW M dealers?

Thanks for the info! I'll save you the long story, but I had been in the process of buying a 2016 GT4 and after test driving it didn't care for it as much hoped and re-thought what I was looking for. Kid seats in the back while doing track duty became a priority, and the CS fit that bill nicely. Knowing the tethers will work nicer than I thought is great!

What wheels do you guys think go better with the red calipers, gold or black? I would be getting BSM for the car color. Debating between gold or black Sport Cup 2 wheels.

The M2CS seats are the same as the M2C and the M2C seats are the same as the M235i. They all share the same back seats except stitching color.

Ya never know what will happen with sales after the first frenzy is over. Maybe at the EOP they discount it by 10k. Then the M2CS starts to look good from all angles.

That's a good point. However you also run the risk of the car being sold out. There have not been any new M3 CS near me in months, all gone locally.

Most cars get discounted. I read on Rennlist that people get 5% discounts on newly ordered 911 carrera S custom orders.

I think the black on black looks really good with the red calipers. I think it would also look really good with the gold.

Otherwise I think black wheels are played out. I look at the images of cars with black wheels and just see voids of design where there should be art. Artemis had the right idea of going with the gun metalish color. Dark, but still preserves the design element. The gold wheels are hot, but at the opposite end of the spectrum. I'm sure they'd make a lot of people uncomfortable, but they look great with all the colors.

A white car with black wheels is the race look. It's a choice. Blue with gold just reminds me of a Subaru. I just can't shake that image. I like the idea of gunmetal 763s unfortunately powder coating adds cost and potential issues if they are baked too hot.

On an M2 CS I'd go for BSM body color + red calipers + black wheels.

Some ideas:
