Warranty

I have a 2020 m2 comp with 15k miles. Is it still under factory drivetrain warranty?

Yes. Warranty is fours years or 50,000 miles from in service date which ever comes first.

I may need to correct my comment. It depends on the in service date. Some 2020s were put in service in 2019 and are out of warranty. Check your manufacture date if you don’t know the in service date. Worse case you can get the in service date from CarFax report.

The warranty is good for 4 years or 50k miles from the date it was first put in service. My 2020 (bought on Dec 22, 2019) is about to expire in 11 days. So it depends.

You can sign into https://login.bmwusa.com/ or the MyBMW phone app and check your warranty status. My 2020 was sold to it's first owner in July 2019, so my warranty was up in July 2023.

As an aside comment, the 2020 model year started with 03/2019 production month for USA as I recall, so many 2020 models are aged out of their warranty by now.

What do you plan on doing? Riding it out without a 3rd party warranty or with one? Are there any big ticket items that go wrong on this car besides the crankhub? I’ll prob save up and do the fix through AutoCouture, they use the Gintani crankhub for it.

This is my 5th BMW and I hold onto my cars a while (8-10+ years). Never had a 3rd party warranty and dont plan to. If you are worried, just keep saving the money and repair as needed. I am on schedule with all maintenance so that makes things a bit easier. Sure, stuff has failed on my BMWs (like any other brand I've owned), but is sure beats a car payment.

I am not concerned about the crank hub, my car is not tuned

You have a point, I’ll prob do no warranty as well since I want to tune. Crankhub fix will be more for my peace of mind than anything. Last thing I need is for it to happen when I’m far from home and ruin a trip.

Correct, I purchased my 2020 in April of 2019, they really started early on these cars.
