1. There's very little room to go closer to the suspension with my/similar setups. 2. I think the 295/30 on the OEM rim will stick out too far on a lowered car. When I looked at my setup on the car, you may have 1mm at most for additional outer clearance. The 5mm ET difference b/n the VMRs and OEM wheels will not make it feasible to fit 295/30 on a lowered car, IMO. I say this, but I think DrKevM5 has 295/30 on OEM wheels and lowered Dinan suspension for his street 4S set. The Pirelli track tire is more square, so a 295/30 4S on an OEM wheel on a lowered car probably works. But, my goal here is for the track. |

Ah, yes. The TrofeoR are crazy wide. Some say a TrofeoR 265 is more like other's 285. Haven't seen real measured numbers though. Just that they are extremely under speced width wise.
So my conclusion here and now is: OEM will work great with 295 tyres but TrofeoR is a special beast. Big thanks for your help!! |

ZM2 - nice. I bet the higher offset looks great; nice and aggressive. Love to see pictures.

Anyone running lowering springs, oem rims with 265/30 & 295/30? If so which springs & tires and any rubbing/issues?

Unfortunately, wheel pics will have to wait until next week. The shop had a hard time seating the bead on a couple of the tires. They said it’s common with super stiff short sidewall track tires. They wanted to pump them up with a lot of air and let them sit in the sun. I’ll take some pics next week at Watkins Glen. |

I might hit the track in a couple weeks and will snap some pics of the Pirelli’s and VMR’s then. Here’s a pic of the wheel in the meantime. |

I'm on 19x9.5 +30 Front and 19x10.5 +35 Rear. I do rub and have max'd out rear camber on OEM adjustability. I am running a low ish offset rear though. I don't think you will have any issues rubbing on factory wheels. There's plenty of room on factory wheels. Last edited by TampaF87; 04-26-2018 at 12:11 PM.. |

TampaF87 thank you for that info. Sounds like a nice setup. Where does it rub? How’s the front steering with the wider tires? Does it feel less or more responsive and does it feel heavier? Sorry for all the questions.

Happy to report back that I've tested Nitto NT01 275 on 18x10 Apex SM-10 ET33 (12mm spacer in front) all around. Initial fitment on a lowered M2 with 2.7 front camber was good and did not rub. I've since dialed in more camber - to 3.2 - to be confident that the fronts won't rub under compression on track. I've done one track day so far and the new setup performed well. Nitto's were good for at least 1 second faster around Lime Rock compared to the Sport Cup 2s at OEM sizes on OEM wheels. |

Finally got some pics. The setup did well at NJMP over the weekend. I’m iffy on the Trofeo R’s. A little more grip than RE-71Rs, but the tread pattern with the wider rubber made them tramline pretty badly over any track imperfections.

I worked with Apex when ordering the wheels and that was their recommendation. For my car, it was needed considering it's lowered and I'm running 3.2 degrees of camber. With the spacer, I like the flush look I get.

TrofeoR 295/30-19 on stock 10" rear wheel
Lowered just a tiny bit (Öhlins Road & Track default lowering) Camber rear -2.0 No rubbing as far as I can tell yet. Will see if hard cornering on track will rub but I don't think it will, looks good. Note: The 295/30-19 TrofeoR when not mounted on wheel measured 325mm total width!! But when mounted on the 10" wheel this shrunk to 297mm!!!! |

For my next trick, I will be mounting 265/35/19 & 295/35/19 R7s or 265/35/19 & 305/30/19 RE-71Rs on my track wheels. Should have an update next month. |

Note I went for 30 profile though. Both 265/30-19 front and 295/30-19 rear

Very curious what hot pressures you ran. Some r-tires, like Dunlops Direzza get really bad tramlining with slightly high pressures.
Also, did you have even wear or extra wear on the tire shoulders? Edit: reread earlier posts :-) You have more optimal rim widths My 9" up front with 265 is.. not optimal. And your10.5" with higher ET is a very good idea. Why go from 30 to 35 though? Last edited by MagnusT; 05-30-2018 at 02:31 PM.. |

Wear was pretty even, but it looks like I could go with a little more negative camber in the front. Will probably move to -3.0 from -2.75. They don’t make 265/30 & 295/30 in the other tires I mentioned. Also, my car is still relatively soft with the Dinan coilovers and the sidewall stiffness of the 30’s didn’t match the spring rate of my suspension, so felt a bit disconnected. Super quick turn in with the springs catching up... So, 35s may be a better setup for me. Lasty, I would trim the rear bumper/fender tab. It looked like to me it’d rub the tire under compression. So far only street use, track is on Sunday. But so far... They are pretty quiet for being r-tyres (as we call them here). I have 2.4 bar (35 psi) in them and I'm a bit surprised they really don't tramline at all compared to many other tires I've tested. I wonder if we have some alignment differences? 3.1 camber front and 2.0 rear. Very little toe at both ends of the car.
